Be 1000% sure that your contract says it is transferable!!! Request a draft copy of it BEFORE paying. I bought a lifetime contract online through Zeigler for my 2011 and it was NOT transferable (called Chrysler, the whole works) despite I was a full time resident in Florida, the Jeep was plated in FL from the start, the credit card billing address was Florida and the mailing address was Florida, etc.......just thought I'd warn you to triple check and not wait until you go to sell the vehicle years later and find out it was screwed up.

Roger that. Good info to have. Now that I know that Florida has specific insurance laws that prevent discounting insurance, it doesn't matter who i order the maxcare warranty from as it will be the same price. I checked online vs my local shop and it's the same price. So hearing your story is all the more reason to buy local if they will price match the vehicle anyway.

That way I get a solid deal on the vehicle, don't have to travel to pick it up and the warranty will be the same price from anyone and should be filled properly as a transferable warranty provided that is the law as mentioned earlier by another poster. I have google searched a bit tonight, and I've yet to find a page that does state that all warranties or service contracts in Florida are transferable. If anyone does have a link, please post it.

Re: Solid Deal on a Summit?

As a follow up, the one thing I found on the Maxcare specifically is on this page Maximum Care - Mopar Vehicle Protection - Chrysler

it states:

Quote:
"And when it's time to sell your vehicle, Maximum Care is transferable, which may increase its resale value. Some restrictions may apply."

However under the FAQ page Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) Chrysler Service Contracts | Chrysler

it states:

Quote:
Q: Do Lifetime plans cover everything for the life of the vehicle?

A: Lifetime plans provide mechanical repairs for the covered components listed in your personalized plan provisions, but they do not include wear items like brakes or tires. Non-mechanical benefits like first day rental, rental allowance, roadside assistance, towing allowance and trip interruption benefits expire at 7 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. Lifetime plans cover only for the original owner; they are not transferable unless required by state law.

So therefor it appears the plans that are less than lifetime are transferable however the lifetime plan is not, unless specifically required by law. So far I have been unable to find this law for Florida.

Re: Solid Deal on a Summit?

Since you already know that Florida has specific rules, you need to get a copy of the Florida contract before you start picking out specific details. You could just be spinning your wheels otherwise.

AFAIK...and it's been posted previously here in the many threads on MaxCare...Florida is one of the two states that MaxCare Lifetime is transferable.
