Re: Something to laugh at

Having owned 2 Mariners (07/08), I would not compare them to a WK2 -- not even in the same league. However, I would chose it over a Compass or Patriot (in the same league). The Escape has nice cargo room, but passenger space is tight. Front seats are horrid (tiny). The current 3.0 V6 is quicker than any tests I've seen for the 5.7 Hemi GC in a straight line, but that's the only plus over GC. It does have good ground clearance (~8.5") for a tiny ute, and is very good in snow/ice. The new model looks promising with 2.0 EB (270 ft-lbs). Remember, they weigh about 1000 lbs less than GC. If you are buying on the $20K range, they are a good option. Above $30K, no way.

Not according to me and the guy in the blue Escape that came up on my right side on the interstate at a high rate of speed today. I downshifted to 4th gear and blew him away in my WK2 Hemi. Nobody passes me in an Escape (or any vehicle) especially on the right.

Re: Something to laugh at

Where I grew up in Las Vegas, the Ford Escape was just the SUV version of the VW Bug. Only driven by women.

My wife has a 12 Escape. Nice little truck. The 13 Escape looks interesting.
I owned an 06 Explorer that I sold in 10.
Like many, I cross-shopped the new Explorer.....Amongst other things the new Ex is 10-11 Inches longer than the GC. Too big.

Also SYNC SUCKS!!!! It keeps "detaching" from her cell.

Happy to have chosen the GC.
Still waiting for it to arrive......

We cross shopped the edge over the explorer. Wifey hates the explorer. As do I. The front end needs some work. Te edge on te other hand is a nice vehicle. Hated the shiny black consol(fingerprints/scratches). And te my ford touch was too much goin on. Glad I went with the wk2 as well. Can't wait to pick it up tomorrow

Re: Something to laugh at

Don't mock me, but I did cross-shop the Escape before purchasing my WK2. The Escaped felt like it had a labotomy, completely lacked any sort of personality, uninspired, and was dull (to say the least) to drive. The Sync was it's only saving feature, however, I hear that has it's fair share of porblems. Probably more fair to comapre the new Ford Exploder to the Jeep, however, it's still a POS and cost about $4K more when "equally" equipped.

Re: Something to laugh at

We checked out the new Explorer before settling on the WK2. As boring as beige paint -- can't believe it is selling well. Maybe it's a step up for soccer moms and morticians used to minivans.
