Space saver spare

Could someone please tell me what the size and load rating is of the temporary spare in a WK2 ? Mine has the full sized spare and there is no listing for the spacesaver/temporary.

If the same diameter and load rating is 102 or above, I would like to acquire one to replace a 20 year old spare in another vehicle.

Interesting thing is that even though the wheels are 17x8s, the "full sized spare" is an 18. Guess one size fits all.

Re: Space saver spare

It is not uncommon for full size spares to have a different rim size. The overall size (wheel and rubber) is the same size. No matter if your driving the Laredo or a loaded Overland, all the tire/wheel sizes are the same height, just a half inch or so difference in width.
I don't know what the load rating is but I would assume it would have to be close to the original tires at least I hope so. That would be the point of a full size spare IMO but it is hard to tell with newer vehicles.

Re: Space saver spare

That sounds like the full size spare, is it a Kumho ? The space saver should begin with a "T".

Re: Space saver spare

Yeah it is a Kumho, I don't think we get the space saver in Aus.

Re: Space saver spare

Never heard of a spare spacesaver for a JGC.

Re: Space saver spare

From the 2012 WK2 US specifications:

Compact full-diameter spare tire S S S S
Full-size spare tire P P P P

S-standard, P-Package Laredo, Limited, Overland, Overlan Summit

The "Package" is the "trailer tow group".

Re: Space saver spare

The GC is a full time four wheel drive so a full size spare is required so as not to damage the transfer case if used. The 2 wheel drive may be different, not sure.

wouldnt it be easier, cheaper, and safer to just use a full size tire, wheel as a replacement
