Speaker Upgrade

I bought my GK2 off the lot with the Media Center 130 radio with Satelite installed.

I want to upgrade the speakers and the on board amp if the vehicle has one with direct drop in replacements.

The kicker speaker upgrade for the GK2 has not come out yet, but I did see a nice pair of MB Quart 6x9 components that would work fit.

Since the speakers have an 88dB rating I would also like to upgrade the factory amp also, does anybody know where that is located?

If it is simple enough I was hoping to do the work myself.

Any suggestions on speaker upgrades or amps would be great. I want to keep the outer look of the speaker locations as stock looking as possible. Also looking for an amp that will hide away nicely. Direct Drop in Replacement would be the best route to go.

Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

Re: Speaker Upgrade

Lazz, below is the wk2jeeps.com section for trim, stereo, and speaker removal. It is stickied to the top of the forum as well.

It is a bit of a PITA as the connectors are plastic plugs and clips that you'll need to pry away carefully, but with force, to get the trim out before you get to the equipment. The good news is that you can find aftermarket upgrades that will fit and look stock if you take your time getting it done.
