If ur going to get a radar get the v1. Great radar and the arrows are the best feature. I've had mine for about 5 years and it payed for itself within the first year

Yah id go with the redline over v1 if I were to buy one. The one I use is ancient in comparison. Must be great in open areas. Where I live there is so much band chatter in certain areas.

I am really careful, plus I've been driving a Chrysler Pacifica for 6 years - not really a highway racer.
The Hemi GC is very nice on the highway. In Ontario and Quebec I set the cruise on 70 to 75, which is the average highway speed.
And I resist the urge to catch up when others pass me doing 80 - 85.
I'd rather THEY get the ticket, not me.

I'm hoping my luck holds in May. I'm driving to Baltimore, MD, and was planning on driving similarly.
It was 86 in a 65. Id say it is about a $300 fine plus traffic school.

I really am still just getting used to the JGC so if I was going that fast it was hard to tell. I've always had a lead foot though. I guess this will be a lesson to keep my speed down.

Yeah, I haven't looked into a radar detector in ages so I'm sure the V1 is quite old. Thanks for the tip! I'll check the 9500ix and redline out as well.

I don't even have a Hemi, but I'm sure if I did I would've done much worse

Re: Speeding Ticket

First mod on every car I own is a radar detector hardwired into the overhead console. It's always there, plugged in, next to the rear view mirror. You don't need a V1 or passport. Do some research, a $100 detector will give you 90% of the performance for 1/4 the price. Combine the detector with some attentive driving and you should never be pulled over for speeding.

There are some good models out there on the cheap but be careful and do your research because u get what u pay for with radars. And the v1 is an old design on the outside but As for performance it is not outdated at all, still one of the best . I say that for experience cause I've owned both

Re: Speeding Ticket

If you drive fast its not possible to avoid all tickets. Just a cost of doing business. But the main thing is to be safe. Even cops will recognize that not every speeding infraction warrants a ticket.

Last month I was pulled over on I-85 in Atlanta by a trooper when I passed a left lane hog on the right. I was going more than 15mph over the limit and expected a ticket. Instead he understood I was just trying to get home in reasonable time and had safely pulled over after seeing his flashing lights.

Honest to God, after a brief chat he let me go with these parting words: "Most of our drivers around here can't drive. The on-ramp is just ahead there."

I wish I could buy that trooper a beer!

PS - I know that his comment does not apply to all Atlanta drivers. I've seen lots of good ones all over the continent. But its those poor ones that can be so frustrating.

Re: Speeding Ticket

Too bad about the ticket. On the other hand nice to see 6 can go that fast.

If it was 5-10 years ago I would say V1 all the way, but they've fallen behind technically and their patent expired last year on the arrows. I won't be surprised that escort will develop something soon, plus updates are free on the 9500ix via USB to computer. Iirc V1 charges you and you need to send it to them.

Mike Valentines wife works there and she answers the phone too, she is legendary on the forums for her customer service skills

The Pentastar is a smooth as silk and easy to forget how fast you are going.

Back in the 80's I had a 5.0 V8 TBird and the damn car cruised the highway as smooth as a skate on new ice. It felt so good that I bought a radar detector- promptly got two tickets in 4 months.

Tossed the detector and started setting the cruise control on 4 over and have had two tickets since (and both times not using cruise).
