Re: Sport mode!!!

Mine drops down to aerodynamic mode automatically in auto mode when on the freeway. Which is the same height as sport mode.

It is. ECO mode isn't a mode in the 11-13, it is an indicator that shows that you are "driving in a fuel efficient manner." It lights up in sports mode and auto as well. In the 2014 it is a specific mode that is basically the opposite of sport mode - it keeps RPMs lower (holds gears less) and results in a slower but more fuel efficient drive. Eco mode comes on by default.

I love Sport on my 2013. One thing it does is significantly reduces the transmission lag. The other is that it resets the 4WD to a "sportier" mode (set 80% rear/20% front, iirc). That is why it is considered for dry conditions only. However, I agree that the ride stiffens, and on rough roads I don't use it. But it is really cool how based on the mode and the air suspension settings you can feel like you're driving a completely different car.

Verify this on your own drives... Your Mileage May Vary, Some Restrictions and Conditions May Apply.

It is possible there are terrains and traffic conditions where Sport Mode gets better measured mileage than non-Sport mode.

Normal mode and Aero height give you the same ride height, but use the lower shift points to keep from sucking gas.

However, the difference may not be that large, and if you want gas mileage, wait for the new 2016 Prius model Jeep hybrid.

Ayup. Lotsa fun. Particularly on mountain highways with no Subies or EenyMeenyMineeMoVans.

Re: Sport mode!!!

The car sits lower to the road this in itself would be more economical!! + the usage of the accelerator be aggressive and it will use fuel be gentle it wont..

It also only lowers in auto at certain speeds read the manual. Eco mode is not effected.
Another point drive is also directed to the rear wheels so less fuel would be used turning the front driveshaft. The suspension feels stiffer by default but it isnt its actually softer because there is less air in the bags, the car floats, pump the suspension up and it gets stiffer more air pressure to compress in the bags. the stiffness comes from the lower centre point of gravity and swaybars.

Aero mode and sport mode have the same ride height.
A difference of 0.6 inches if memory serves.

If you use moderate to heavy, but not full throttle, to get up to higher speeds and
therefore gears, you can actually increase gas mileage over staying in lower gears longer.

There is a bit of apples/oranges and even bananas here, as people with 8 speed transmissions are comparing against people without them, along with changes in design such that sport mode disables the ECO mode on newer units, so there is no real ability to compare the '14s against prior models as to how they behave.

The 8 speed without torque convertor in the '14 is worth a few MPG in pretty much any condition over older units. Dunno if thats why sport mode was made even sportier on the '14 by removing ECO or not.

I don't see a full gallon worth of MPG when running at speeds in the 40s and above with no start/stop or heavy hill climbing using Sport. It does change the driving characteristics into a bit less like a big suv and more like an older sports sedan.

Re: Sport mode!!!

Pretty easy to understand if you bother to read the manual!!! Its quiet clear how it actually works, you can throw it back and fourth all you like with your ideas but the manual is there for a reason. Sport mode in an overland is going to be different to a limited and larado, the same as being different to an 8speed.
