Re: SPORT MODE....when is it used ?

The best part of sport mode is engaging it at a stop light and watch the people beside you stare....wondering why the front end is dropping down...lol
Definitely a different feeling driving in sport mode....this thing can move out pretty good!

You must live in a place where people are very observant, or you have a very vivid imagination. Most people I know would never notice the car next to them dropping 1/2 inch, even if you were blowing your horn (or doing something else) to attract attention.

Can't speak for everyone, but most of the residents and the "rodents" (kids with sports cars) in my town, are very nosey. They usually start pointing whenever you engage sport mode at a red light. Especially the kids.

Short story:
I vividly recall a few months back. I was minding my own business coming home from some errands. A rather fiesty kid in a new Mustang kept driving beside me and tonailing the throttle for a car length or two. We get to the red light and the driver and all of his buddies are all staring at me while I fiddled with the radio. I look over smiling and engage sport mode. They have a mild pile inside the car while leaning over to watch as attack mode was enabled..... and then passenger pipes up "Hey man! that tank you are driving must be scared because it's cowering all by itself!" A) It's definately not cowering. B) You have no idea the holeshot these things have.
The light drops to green and he is a spec in the rearview. The driver's chin hit the ground so hard when I launched that I was almost crying from laughter. We get to the next light where I politely told him to go home due to it being past his bedtime and school just let out for the evening. He received a very long "ooooooooh" from his passengers. And don't even get me started on the import car kids here with yellow stickers all over the car and fartcan exhaust. It's just not even fun to mess with them anymore.

Re: SPORT MODE....when is it used ?

I drive in sport mode or paddle shift all the time, except when I am on the highway! Then I drop into D mode to save gas! LOL!

I doubt that disengaging sport mode once you're up to speed on the highway does anything to save fuel...

I believe this to be true. A lot of the focus of Sport Mode is better performance in stop'n'go with the changes to shift points, etc. Aero mode on QL looks kewel at non-highway, but isn't going to have as much effect on economy and aerodynamics at low speeds as it potentially will at highway speeds...where it's automagical anyway. Once you get up to cruising, things are a wash.

Re: SPORT MODE....when is it used ?

I may be wrong, but I find sport mode to handle better than eco mode on the freeway (+70mph). No matter what mode I am in the suspension always goes into aero at ~55mph. But I suspect that there are differences in the suspension too (or perhaps the additional torque to the rear makes it feel that way). Around town I use eco, as I think it is more efficient. This is all based on the diesel engine, where there is only 240hp, but 420 ft/lb of torque at 1800rpm.

Re: SPORT MODE....when is it used ?

The only downside in my opinion with sport mode in the rough down shifting of the transmission. I understand the truck downshifts at high RPM's but there is just too much lerk in my opinion. If it wasn't for that I would always keep the truck in sport mode.
