Re: SRT hood on Limited

A local to me dealer has a large online parts store that offers about a 30% discount so I was able to save a good chunk of change.

I'm doing the Altitude headlights and grill at the same time also. Will definitely post up pics once complete.

Re: SRT hood on Limited

I have a quick question: why are you guys doing the swap ? for looks or for function?

I dig the looks of the SRT. I like the hood, it is aggressively looking. And yes, if it was much cheaper and I lived in the desert/mountains, I might be tempted to do it myself for the added cooling (venting ports) aspect of it. Alright, maybe the diesel sniffers who tow a lot probably should be looking into it as a way to control the rising coolant temps. But putting it on a V6 (gas or diesel) and not have the performance ( i.e. acceleration) to go along with the looks is very ....pretentious.

Reminds me of all those early to mid 2000s kids who added a Subaru STI wing to their Subaru with Impreza 2.5 NA or 2.0 NA engines. My point is that some "visual tuning" elements really only work if you also have the supporting "mechanical tuning".

Re: SRT hood on Limited

I am swapping to the SRT hood because I like the way it looks. It will obviously cool better as well. I disagree that style has to be tied to the vehicles ability to accelerate. That's an interesting concept. It's a vehicle, people mod them.

P.S. Check out this "pretentious" Jeep hood. The Rubicon X also has a vented hood with a 3.6L. Weird...

So getting the SRT hood based on how it looks from a design stand point is too pretentious to you unless we have a fast Jeep? What a load of shi*.

And comparing it to a wing on an STI...wow.

No one wants the hood for added benefit of performance and there's no wool I'm trying to pull over anyone's eyes, making them think I am impersonating an SRT.

Re: SRT hood on Limited

Ordered everything I needed to do the swap today. I hope to have some pics in about 2 weeks. I didnt know know I would tilt the world off its axis by doing this mod, but I like the looks of the hood as well. I just want my Jeep to be a little different than the rest. Everyone grab onto something as I do not anyone falling off the Earth when this is completed.

Mine is black (PXR) so it was really hard for the guy to get the hood to match, but he did and it looks great on my Jeep. You cannot use the regular hood silencer that is on your regular hood. I have listed the parts below that you will need. You can reuse your striker hood latch, hood hinges, and hex head bolt that holds gas prop for your hood. I have attached a few photos of mine. If you want some of the underside just let me know. Hope this helps.

1 Ea. Hood Bezel 68090698AB $12.35

1 Ea. Chrome Jeep Hood Emblem 5182390AB $45.00
Well I have to say another big, "THANKS!" to vzwman for listing the parts needed to make this happen. I am overseas currently so it's not as easy as going into my local parts counter and google wasn't helping me out.

Here is my Jeep fresh out of the body shop with new grill, headlights and hood.

Re: SRT hood on Limited

Super dope thread!!! I am doing this mod as well as I have to replace my hood due to a VERY MINOR fender bender.

I'm installing it on my 2011 Limited along with the 2014 LED Bi-xenons, grille, and bumper assembly.

Thanks again for the thread. I was wondering what it was going to look like.
