SRT hood on Limited

Looking to get an SRT hood for my Limited. Besides the hood panel and the 2 vents, what else should I order? Can I reuse my old hood insulation, struts, weatherstriping? Any help who has done this before would be greatly appreciated. I just want to make sure I order all the small things I need. Thanks Al

Re: SRT hood on Limited

Hi, I just completed doing a SRT hood upgrade to my 2014 Overland. It is really easy if you can find a good painter that can match the paint without during blending on the fenders. I done all of the SRT hood upgrade myself except for the painting of the hood. Mine is black (PXR) so it was really hard for the guy to get the hood to match, but he did and it looks great on my Jeep. You cannot use the regular hood silencer that is on your regular hood. I have listed the parts below that you will need. You can reuse your striker hood latch, hood hinges, and hex head bolt that holds gas prop for your hood. I have attached a few photos of mine. If you want some of the underside just let me know. Hope this helps.

1 Ea. Hood Bezel 68090698AB $12.35
1 Ea. Hood Bezel 68090699AB $12.35
1 Ea. SRT Hood Silencer 68088724AC $95.35
7 Ea. Silencer Retainer Holders 4878883AA $6.35
1 Ea. Hood Seal 68084597AB $29.95
1 Ea. SRT Hood 68040264AF $927.00
1 Ea. Chrome Jeep Hood Emblem 5182390AB $45.00

Thanks very much for the pics and info and prices. Your Jeep looks great. What do you think my cost would be for the prep, paint and installation of the hood? Also I have a V6, will the shape of the new hood effect any clearance issues under the hood? Just picked up my 2011 so I am new to this stuff. Al

This post come at a perfect time being that my wife was involved in a minor fender bender. Was just looking for part numbers to make this swap happen.
Thanks!

Re: SRT hood on Limited

Where are you guys getting the hoods from?

I thought Black Ops Autoworks was basically the only source and he said he isn't making them anymore. Just wondering.

Looks awesome on your Jeep though.

I had my hood prep and painted for $350.00 and the guy done a great job in matching the factory paint (No Fender Blending To Match Hood). It looks like it came on it from the factory. Also if you have the stock factory intake on your jeep you will not have any clearance issues. I had installed the factory 5.7L Hemi OEM Mopar intake on mine so I had to upgrade to the SRT 6.4L intake to get the SRT hood vent clearance. Injen makes a intake system for the SRT 6.4L engine. All I used was the Injen heat shield that came with the kit. It will drop right in to the 5.7L Hemi engine and mount to all the factory mounting hardware. I have included some photos of mine. If I can help just let me know. Thanks

It's an OEM part. Check your local dealer.

Sorry, completely missed you posted the part number and I don't know why I thought that was the only hood option through Black Ops.

Thanks!

Pics would be great. My Limited is silver also. Curious to see if your painter has to blend with the fenders. Al

Re: SRT hood on Limited

Were you able to talk your dealer down on parts prices? I found the parts on line for alot less than list. For example, I found the hood for around 660.00 on line as compared to the 927.00 they list it for. I hope to talk my parts dealer down to about 850.00 total for everything. Paint and labor not included of course. I printed out the sheet to show them. Gives me some ammo to work with. It worked on the grill I bought a few months ago. Saved me about 100.00 there.

That is great. I hope all goes well with the painting. I know you will be happy with it when you get it all completed, I find a lot of the parts on-line cheaper but by the time I paid for shipping it was going to cost me more. The Jeep dealership here is small so they want give you much of a price break. I really want to see your pictures when you get it all installed. It will set your Jeep off when it comes to looks. You will be happy I know.
