SRT8 Hood

Hello Folks, I have a 2011 GC Limited and I really like the way the Hood on the SRT8 looks. I am considering buying one and having it painted and installed. I have a couple questions I hope someone might be able to help me with.
1) I would want to have the plastic diamond mesh hood opening covers chromed like the Summit grill has. Would that be possible and would it need to be painted or dipped? I assume the hood is shipped with those inserts not installed for painting pourposes so sending them out to be done would be easy. If anyone has ever done this and knows a place they can recommend that would be great.

2) I have a Mopar Cold Air Intake and the left opening looks like it would be right over that so does anyone have a best practice to fix that isssue? I was thinking of just cutting a piece of plastic to the same size as that diamond mesh and then silicone it to keep the water from getting into the engine compartment.

Any help or ideas are welome, thanks!

Re: SRT8 Hood

+1 to wanting the SRT8 hood, both aesthetic appeal and to vent the engine bay. You could put a dry sack over your mopar cai air filter. It likely will be no problem coating the vents finish if so desired, the rest of the chrome trim is also plastic base. Cannot answer whether the vents can be removed easily. Main barrier has been the cost.

A short while ago someone posted a carbon fiber SRT8 hood replica that looked tremendous, but those threads got locked down for the time being. He reportedly will be back here soon.
