I love the carbon fiber, FYI. It's fantastic. Hard to believe that it was 20 years ago that Audi offered it on the original (A6-based) S4. Quattro, turbocharged, intercooled 5-cylinder engine, flared fenders, white dials, carbon fiber trim, heated front and rear seats. Awesome ski car:

That officially makes it even more dumb.

Carbon Fiber is awesome! It is a must on a high performance machine... I'm not a fan of the wheels. They remind me of an '07 MDX.... I would put some mean 22's and keep oem's for winter driving...

Carbon fiber is rice.

That motor in a plain old Overland is my dream. Sleeper > Rice

Re: SRT8 Monster Engine, Monster-ugly Styling

I disagree with the entire pretense of this thread. The new SRT8 is a monster in every sense. The looks are stunning, the performance is top shelf and the price (assuming if comes in under $50K) makes this the hands down leader in the high performance SUV class. This is coming from someone who's owned a couple of fast SUV/Trucks (Cayenne Twin Turbo, Trailblazer SS, 2 Ford Lightnings). The only thing that disappoints me is it doesn't have the ZF dual clutch trans!

All this carping about the minor details sounds like a room full of teenagers. Maybe once it hits the street we can get back to arguing over tenths of a second on the track instead of which strip of taped on dash panels looks better.

Actually, it's more Teutonic and Italian, from 20 years ago and the "ricers" were influenced by it. The ricers also slapped the vinyl versions of it on their faux CF hoods, mirrors and interior bits.

The Audi S4 was a "sleeper" along with various turbo-charged Volvos. I agree that I'd like that motor, hood, spoiler and brakes on an Overland.

Re: SRT8 Monster Engine, Monster-ugly Styling

Uh, forgot a few other mods. Tuner, Bwoody CAI and Sway Links, '09 SRT8 shift knob, tinted tails. You know, just a few more tidbits. Supercharger, Bops goodies. Basics.

I think you disagree with 1/2 the pretense of this thread. ;-)

I'm sure there are some young ones on this board, but they're entitled to their opinion as well.

The SRT8 is fantastic in every sense, minus the some of the detailing, that's all. There is a severe disconnect in the design language with the add-ons. IMO.

It isn't always about track times. That's old-school. Today's enthusiasts expect more and would like to take a corner at the end of the straightway while having something beautiful to look at. American manufacturers have finally figured that out, which is why we have the award-winning WK2.

Re: SRT8 Monster Engine, Monster-ugly Styling

I'd like to see what the new WK2 SRT8 could do in a slalom course.
