Where does one look to verify, confirm SRT8 tailights are true LED bulbs?

Re: SRT8 Monster Engine, Monster-ugly Styling

Back OT gents. Below are my favorite photoshops from the WK2 threads, many of which have my original mod list applied.

Drop the fogs and LED's where they belong, no chrome framing in the grill:

Rep Wheelset:

Rep Wheelset:

I've always loved the Viper wheels.

+1 to Jeff J's comments, SEMA Street version looks killer with WK2 22's, chrome painted to body color, and this front dam vs. the big lower lip of the 2012.

Rear lower valance goes to body color, needs the chrome liftgate trim painted as well. Would like to see those pipes protrude another 1".

Just because, in E-Blue, POW!

LED Taillamps (may be cancelled)

On the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 it was confirmed by members of this forum that the taillamps were LED on that Jeep shown in New York. Refer to the WK2 SRT 8 section of jeepgarage forums.

However, per link above, they may be cancelled. But as for now the plan is LED Taillamps in the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8.

Re: SRT8 Monster Engine, Monster-ugly Styling

What's the fixation people have with LED tail lights? I'm at a loss but a lot of people seem to really be hung up on this one, meaningless detail........

BTW, I may be in the minority but I like the DRL LED's where they are and I also like the wheels, go figure

I completely agree. I don't get it. It's red light either way.

I also like the daytime running LED lights and the wheels.

Re: SRT8 Monster Engine, Monster-ugly Styling

Nice work Moose!!!

However, I liked the touch of chrome in the grille. I think it helps the balance the rest of the chrome found on the vehicle, which, IMO has been tastefully executed (reduced) on the SRT8 - minus the rear license eyebrow which should be body colored. I feel the Limited's & Overland's have too much, again my opinion.

I think the rear valence is OK in black, looks like the rear-diffuser found on California Special and GT500 Mustangs and Camaro's. Actually, a lot of muscle and/or sports cars do this.

mjw930,
I guess since a lot of folks want to upgrade their current tails to LEDs it was a hope for a direct swap. Your right though, it is not an item to get hung up on or not buy a car.

Re: SRT8 Monster Engine, Monster-ugly Styling

If there were no visual and performance mod fixations, forums would be pretty damn boring. Same might be said for cars in general. You'd only have threads about coin holders and agonizing wait times for custom orders and such.

I kid, I kid.

LED's primary advantages are quality of light, low power consumption, low heat, long life, and for some people - aesthetics. I've changed out most of the WK2 bulbs to LED's, and it's a much nicer light.

That said, I don't quite get the multiple LED strip displays ala Audi, but that's just personal opinion. Many obviously do given their proliferation in other lineups.

So in the SRT8 my personal likes are to drop the front LED strip completely, and if not included stock, replace the tail bulbs to LED. Of course, with some tinted lenses. Meanwhile, for performance' sake, I prefer the fogs to be lower to the ground for visibility and less reflection back into the driver's eyes in foul weather.

YMMV.

What's the point? There is not enough of it to be a weight savings. It just for show. Now if the hood, roof and uppe panels were CF that would be soemthing (but the cost would be a few grand more).
