SRT8 or 2011 Summit

I was looking at ordering a 2011 Summit edition or have a chance to purchase a 2009 srt8 for a really good price. The srt8 has 22,000 miles and I can purchase it for around $33,000 with a 7yr / 100,000 maxcare warranty. The srt8 is loaded with premium sound including Nav. I was going to order a Summit within the next 2 weeks, but came across this srt8 while I was at a dealership. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: SRT8 or 2011 Summit

That's a pretty fair priced srt I'd say.

I'd say go with it with that warranty.

Re: SRT8 or 2011 Summit

In terms of quality of materials and quality of assembly the difference is night and day between a WK and WK2.

No disrespect to members who have a WK, but WKs, especially 2007 to 2010, are plagued with cheap hard plastics and poor workmanship. All Chrysler products from 2007 to 2010 are affected.

2011, well that's another story. Chrysler really hit a home run with all 2011 models, especially the WK2. So, go for the 2011 Summit, or wait for the WK2 SRT-8 due out next fall.

That's my two cents

SRT8 at that price/warantee, then if you're in the mood trade for 2012 or 2013 SRT8

Ehh I kind of disagree. I dont know where you pulled those random years out of since there was an interior change, but IMO the 2005 through 2007 interiors were the ones lacking in the quality department. In 2008 They revised the interior and it was significantly improved. Obviously not to 2011 standard but much better than the 05-07 interiors.

As far as which to get a new Summit or a 09 SRT thats a tough one. I am really into performance as well I have owned a 08 SRT8, C6 Z06 vette etc etc. And I guess if I had to choose I would actually get the new Summit. Even though the performance aspect wont be there, the WK2 is that much better and has an unbelievable amount of improvements and additions that you couldnt even dream of in the 09. To name a few....keyless go/push start, bi-xenon headlamps, ventilated seats, heated power telescopic steering column, adaptive cruise (amazing feature), blind spot monitoring, power liftgate, height adjustable air suspension...man the list can go on and on. I think all those additions out weigh the performance aspect of the 09 SRT8. Now if the new 2012 SRT8 has all the above mentioned and performance (which it will), well then you know what I would get ;-)

Chrysler introduced many new/refreshed products in 2008 and they all came with the hard cheap looking plastic interior. I sat in quite a few Chrysler models between 08 and 2010 and they are all the same. Cost cutting measures I guess. Soooo glad that Chrysler has rebounded because the past few years have been painful for a loyal Jeep guy like myself.

Nothing wrong with a WK when it comes to exterior looks, off-road capability, mechanical reliability. It's just the interior that leaves a real bad taste in my mouth.
Anyway, to the OP, I would recommend you wait for the WK2 SRT-8 which is due this coming fall(if you want an SRT-8 Grand Cherokee), but if your looking at buying right now, then Summit it is.

But hey, buy whatever make's you happy, it's your money, you have to drive it

Re: SRT8 or 2011 Summit

Go for the new 2011.....whether a Summit or not or wait for the new SRT.

I have a WK FULLY loaded 2005 GC black/dark graystone, V8 Hemi, 4x4, DVD, nav, etc. with less than 38K miles in outstanding condition. MSRP was over $43K....I'd sell it for $18K in a heartbeat. $33K for a WK is way too high in my opinion.

There is no comparison between the WK and WK2....if you're gonna spend that kind of money, get the WK2.

Re: SRT8 or 2011 Summit

Might as well wait for the 2012 SRT8 since they will be close in price to a summit. I am just hoping they do not make the interior all gaudy with carbon fiber or diamond plate parts.

Two different machines in my opinion. If you are wanting the SRT8 I would wait for the new one to come out.
