I also need a Beta tester volunteer with a 2017 3.6L Grand Cherokee. If you are interested PM me please. I will provide you a FREE SmartStopStart module for your trouble!

One thing I should mention, is that the programming of the vehicle is not changed in any way whatsoever. The SmarttStopStart module simply automatically presses the buttons for you 'virtually' by sending the same commands that the buttons do over the vehicle's network.

Re: Start/stop

Does it effectively then simply change the default state to "Off," so you can still choose to turn it back on if you want to by pressing the button?

It changes the default state to whatever selection you had (whether it is ESS on or ESS off) the last time you drove. It is basically a memory. This is the way Jeep should have done it in the first place.

yah makes sense - sounds like you can mod it to do other things as well??!?

Also - pretty sure my car has memory '16HA (no ESS option since diesel),

Yes, it does the same for the SPORT button.

It can potentially do other things with different software, but I am trying to keep it simple and affordable and focus on the Stop/Start, since this is the biggest nuisance for a lot of people.

Know it's a little off topic, but are you planning (or is it even possible) to do the same thing for ECO mode on the 14s? Would be nice to not have to push that button every time as well.

If so, and there's any way I can help, let me know!

Great work, btw!

Yes, I am fairly certain I can do a variation of the software in the module for the ECO mode on the '14s. If there is a '14 owner within 100 miles of Washington DC willing to allow me 2-3 hours with his or her Jeep, I can probably make it happen.
