I know this will make a number of you very happy!

I expect to start shipping them in October or November.
There is a sign-up sheet on my website so I can gauge the size of the initial production run.

As a bonus feature, it also memorizes and restores the state of the SPORT button!

Here is the sign-up website: www.smartstopstart.com. There is no cost or obligation to sign up for notification of availability.

There is a video demo there also (sorry the audio is slightly out of sync, I need to redo it).

Re: Start/stop

I find it fascinating that there are so many people pissed off with the fact you have to push a button to start a car and, heaven forbid, you have to press the same button to stop the car. When you think that a country is going to elect Donald Trump as the President, all else seems sane.

That's not what they are talking about.

I admire your politics, but you are misinformed as to the purpose of this thread. It is the stop/start feature, something being implemented by more and more manufacturers to increase mpg by a sliver not by turning off the car at stoplights etc. It is not the start/stop button that starts and stops the automobile.

Does the module need to stay attached to the OBD-II port all the time?

Yes, since the module does not modify the software in the vehicle, it must be plugged in to work.

It is designed to ''sleep' once the ignition is shut off so as not to drain the battery.

It can be removed at any time and normal factory operation is immediately restored. It retains the last STOPSTART and SPORT settings in its non-volatile flash memory if you remove it (say for service to use the diagnostic port) and uses those settings when you plug it in again.

Re: Start/stop

If that works as advertised then that's probably the most significant aftermarket improvement product made for the GC to date.

That's impressive.

The current version has been working in my 2016 GC for two weeks now without a hitch.

I have one going out today to a 2017 GC owner and forum member who kindly offered his time to beta test it on his 2017.

Re: Start/stop

I received the SmartStartStop today from whitexkr. So far it is working as advertised. Installation is plug and play and the ESS has been off since this morning. I will post a video and an update later this week.

My Stop/Start no longer works on my 2016 GC Summit 3.6 after installing a sprint booster.
