All you have to do is look around the forum to know that they are not unique to my vehicle. I have seen threads with similar issues to mine, and threads with far worse issues. I mean...look at the number of threads just on 2014 GC's that have died out on the road. 2 or 3...but even 2 or 3 is incredibly unusual, find another forum with 2 or 3 threads about different 2014 vehicles that have died on the road and needed to be towed. Look at the number of members who have posted just in this thread and shared similar experiences. Then you obviously have many owners who have no issues. Chrysler obviously needs to work harder on providing a consistent stream of consistently reliable units. When you have inconsistent quality its a symptom of lack of quality control.

Keep in mind that the WK2 is based on a Mercedes chassis, and shares many components with that manufacturer. Are German factory workers really that much better at assembling vehicles that Detroit factory workers? I kinda doubt it.
You're the one that keeps making statements about Detroit and American automakers, not me. My issues are with the quality of components both mechanical and electrical...not with build quality. I have a couple rattles, but I've had rattles in Lexus vehicles, Toyota vehicles, etc. Rattles in the Jeep are no worse. I have no issue with the folks in Detroit that built my Jeep.

Quote:
I'd venture to say that if your dealer treated you like a Mercedes/ Lexus/ BMW/ Infinti dealer does, you'd have a lot less to complain about.
Uh, no. This isn't an issue with dealer quality. I don't expect Jeep dealers to treat me like Lexus dealers, and I was happy with the other dealer even though they are a little slow, these guys at the new dealer just saved me on the A/C issue when the other dealer wouldn't. My issues with repairs being redone is not repair quality, its repeat failure of the replacement component that was installed (i.e. two cruise control switch assemblies). My Jeep keeps going in for NEW problems as well.

I would be pissed about this many failures on ANY vehicle this new, whether the dealer was the taj mahal or not. The dealer hasn't caused any of my issues.

I think I'm being pretty fair here...why you continue to try and call me out or defend Jeep or whatever in my thread is beyond me. You don't have to participate in my thread if you don't want to hear me vent, but my and others frustrations with these problems are legitimate, despite how much we like our vehicles. If you want to pretend we're all just crazy, or that we're abusing our Jeeps, or whatever else such nonsense go for it.

Re: Starting to get a little frustrated with the Jeep...my tale of woe

An update:

Jeep was put into the dealership this morning for the following:

Replacement of leaking rack & pinion
Mysterious wet seatbelt
Rattle on driver's side dash
Rattle on passenger side dash
Intermittent volume freeze on radio
USB port in console doesn't work

New USB port, new nav/radio HU are arriving tomorrow AM to be installed, as is a replacement rack & pinion.

Turns out the leak and the rattles are the same issue. Apparently the drain system for the sunroof was never connected/installed properly at the factory. The sunroof area has been draining into the vehicle since it was new (luckily very little draining has occurred, which is incredible). New drains are being installed tomorrow, and a new seatbelt is being installed since that one is real musty. The loose drain tubes are flopping around...causing the rattles.

Incredible

On another note, this guy at this dealer is sharp...happy there.

Just curious how would you rate the quality of your vehicle on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being best?

Yep.

I love everything about it except the quality. Hopefully things will improve.

Re: Starting to get a little frustrated with the Jeep...my tale of woe

I am supposed to pick up my 2014 GC tomorrow. My third since 2005.
I agree that the cost of owning a vehicle is often not considered by buyers.
I get my oil changed every 3-4 K miles, not because I need an oil change but because I want that vehicle checked on a regular basis. I know this is an expense going in.
If the rotors are welded to the hubs at 27k obviously something is not balanced properly and it sounds like a defect rather than a warranty issue unless you are murdering the brakes. I replaced my back pads only at 70K after constant towing and water submersion.

The biggest question is your dealer. If something fails in the first 36K I am not willing to hear about the cost. The failure you experienced and the fact they made you pay for it suggests that dealer is telling you to buy your next car somewhere else. Maybe try talking to the people in the service waiting room instead of the salesman when trying to decide if you want to buy from this dealer REGARDLESS of what brand of car you are buying.

I have never bought more than one car from a single dealer in my life but I bought my last six cars from my current dealer. Its not the car its the dealer!

Amen. But you are VERY lucky if you have a great Jeep dealer near you. We've been discussing Long Island dealers in another thread here and there doesn't seem to be anyone who had a good experience with sales AND service. And we have maybe 10 or more dealers here within 30 miles or so. Just crazy.

Re: Starting to get a little frustrated with the Jeep...my tale of woe

No Jeep dealer has ever tried to make me pay for a repair. The brakes were done by my independent mechanic, I called and spoke to Jeep beforehand and brakes aren't covered under warranty, which I wouldn't expect them to be. 27,000 miles is not completely crazy for front brakes when we drive in town a lot, it was just the level of corrosion that surprised me and my mechanic.

Being unbalanced wouldn't cause corrosion...

My issues are the CAR, not the dealer. None of this is a dealer's fault.

I could not agree more with this statement. It perfectly sums up how I feel.
