Steering Wheel shakes

Hey all,

My steering wheel shakes when I go between 70-85 mph on the highway and sometimes starts at 65mph and it has been doing this since day 1 (I've had my jeep for about a month now) and it has less than 2000 miles on it. I evened out the tire pressure because I thought that was causing the problem but it didnt help. If I take it into a dealership to get it checked will it cost anything? I know the new car warranty doesn't cover tires but since the car is still pretty new do you think they would take care of the costs to fix this problem?

Yup a common problem, mine '14 overland does the same thing. Its slight and doesn't start until 115 kms/hour (70ish). From what I've read on this site it's a problem with the cheap OEM Goodyear tires. Some guys have changed out for a better quality tire and the shimmy disappears.

Yes...common problem indeed.

I had this same issue with my new 2014 GC with the 20" wheels. The dealership ended up rotating & rebalancing all four wheels.

Problem solved.

I would recommend a balance and an alignment

Would that be something the dealership would pay for? I do not want to pay to have a new car with only 1700 miles on it to have the tires aligned.
