I own one of the few non-feminine SUVs....a 4WD Excursion Diesel. Its a man's truck for sure...Super Duty frame, lifted, big tires, 5 inch exhaust, off road suspension....drives horrible like a big truck should....LOL! Never operated by a woman either.

I did see an X3 and its tiny. I'd rather have a 5 series at that point. Since I run the wheels off my business ride, an expensive luxury vehicle makes no sense. The repairs after 100k are mega pricey from everything I've read. The GC Diesel may be costly too if the air suspension fails....we'll see.

To those who EXPECT certain things in the 50k Jeep to be comparable to the all inclusive BMW experience, tack on 15k and you can have it. The GC Summit and Overland's competition is priced way higher feature for feature. Just pay cash for the service and rent your own car for the difference in price.

If you have to finance or lease that fancy ride, maybe you aren't as financial sound as you think you are! Just saying most Americans are in debt up to their eyeballs trying to keep their appearances up.

Most SUVs are driven by women, it seems. Even Jeeps. I see more JSCs driven by women than not. Case in point: My wife wants one. Doesn't matter to me. I like them.

As for the X3 vs. 5 series- here is why we considered the X3: It has MORE interior seating room than the 5 and is a full 2"+ wider! What you get in the 5 is, in essence, a bigger trunk. The 3 series is literally within 1" of the 5 series in interior dimensions. I don't care about the trunk.

I don't expect the same experience in a Jeep service department as BMW, but do expect a few basic items like loaners and the like. Maybe I am unrealistic, but at 45-50K I do expect a bit more than those buying a Dodge Dart.

As for lease v buy? I doubt all that many can afford 50K cash out of pocket for any vehicle. Me? I look at leasing a BMW as a total waste of money. But, as I posted earlier, so long as I am doing the proverbial right thing 80% of the time, i.e. fully max all 401ks, save besides that and have no other debt beyond a modest mortgage then have fun 20% of the time. Any day here could be one's last, so have a little fun. Where people get into trouble, IMO and as you allude, is when they reverse the 80% and 20%. Just my opinion. YMMV, of course.

Why give a dealer that pile of cash when you can keep it in your pocket?

I did pay cash for my boat because I didn't want a pleasure item like that to be a monthly expense. If you've ever owned a boat though you'd know they are a monthly expense by nature-gas, maintenance ect. Boat=Break Out Another Thousand.

LOL! Never heard it put that way, but true.

I like other people's boats. No desire to own one at all, but I can see why some do. Life is all about choices. To some, even many, a boat is a "waste of money", but to you its about enjoying life. I get that.

2 happiest days of a boat owners life - first best day is the day you buy it, the second best day is the day you sell it.

Definition of a boat: A hole in the water you throw money into

Jw, the way I see it, if a person owns riverfront/soundfront property a boat is a must have. I don't have it like that just yet, early 30's, there's time. I would have been better off relying on my brother in laws boat. Kick him 20 for gas and I'm free and clear.

The longer I own it the less it gets used. I wouldn't say I regret the purchase but I do understand that money could've been spent a little more wisely.

Boats. SMH.

Honestly guys, this thread is turning into a measuring contest among midgets but it all narrows down to what ticks the most boxes on your list. Just buy wtf vehicle springs into your mind at this very second.

Agreed. Thread has turned into a pissing contest and it's irrelevant. Drive whatever you like that has the features you want.

My time is too valuable to be driving around town looking for the best price. I want to pull in, get in the loaner and go. The BMW free maintenance is great for a customer like me because its simple, included, and it preserves my most valuable asset...my time. I almost chose the 535 over my Lexus GS simply because of the maintenance.

It's a luxury car thing. I suppose Jeep owners wouldn't understand according to your logic.
What he said. After many years of owning lexus and bmw, when i bought my gc last month i honestly assumed at this point in time that the free loaner was pretty much standard in the industry. They said "unless you paid for the extra xyz service contract you dont get a free loaner". Lol, ok. An its not like my 2014 GC Limited was much cheaper than a Lexus suv or the bmw.

As for those that say keep your car for twenty years, good for you. I guess it depends on our individual demographics and or social brackets. I would be very stressed if my car would break down and have to go around town to find an independent, make an appointment, no loaner, not sure about his reputation, etc.

It would also suck having to take a customer, boss, colleague out to lunch or an offsite meeting in a 20 year old car with no payments! Lol

Yikes....if the comparison BMW or Lexus is equivalent in size and features...YOU PAID TOO MUCH! Last time I checked an X5 comparably equipped was 12k higher. Don't know about what Lexus model but it should follow suit. A loaded Limited should run maybe 43k-45k if you know how to negotiate.

It's a feminine looking boat, but that's an opinion. What's not an opinion is your redskins are getting hammered. Before you freak out, that WAS NOT A JOKE. Haha.

Ps, how long did you spend looking online for that picture? More or less time than the Viagra link?
