In the future, I hope we get better cell phone integration so some of the functions we already have can be displayed/controlled from the nice 8.4" screen...
Yes, nearest city temp/forecast isn't close and changes at what appears to be random. Local Gas Prices app is also useless, tried it once, showed our regular Stop & Shop gas station as 2+ miles away from the actual gas station, directed us to what was a gas station 5 years ago and never named Stop & Shop gas plus prices were not close to actual, etc.
. If Uconnect product was purchased as stand-alone product it would be returned quickly as not functional for use as marketed, if replacement had the same issues the product is a failure and should only be considered a "proof of concept" product, not something that a manufacturer would expect to be well received by end-users as acceptable even if distributed free or as part of another product. Unfortunately, if you have 2014 JGC, your only option is to complain and have dealership tell you there isn't anything they can do other than wait for possible update - "what you see is what you get" - sorry, that is how Chrysler/Uconnect is marketing the product and fix may be to remove the app from Uconnect and updated owner's manual.
. Unfortunately, software fixes a simple forced re-boot or refresh to fix without actually repairing the cause of the lock-up's will only slow down processing response. If travel link and other apps are slow like the Uconnect direct update download site(supports a max of 30 users at a time???), unless they update their servers for more users, it can only get worse with more apps - too many trying to use them and no one receives satisfactory service. I have learned test these apps only when alone in the Jeep. Otherwise, passengers see what could be a "look at that neat new feature" as "that's not good". Don't forget the outside temp reading that is often far from accurate, auto-start not cooling down or heating as would be expected, etc. A sad embarrassment to JGC customers, distribution, manufacturers, and corporate. Uconnect apps and display are what customers see and expect to use without long delays to refresh/re-boot or promises of software updates and brings down the excellent hardware design and higher quality of product fit and finish.
. I feel sorry for the engineers and factory workers that have nothing to do with the Uconnect failure that is bringing down perception of quality for the JGC package.
