Good point. I wasn't aware of differences on the rails themselves.
Keep in mind that with something like a Kayak, the Wind is probably WAY more of a factor than it's weight. The downward or upward force could be 100's of lbs at 70 mph. It's really hard to make it neutral.
As well as sideways gusts. Think of college kids holding a mattress on roof by hand going 35mph to their dorm
