Struggling to find some 'Privacy Shades' for my GC 2014

O.P.this post was edited
Hi everyone,

I'm trying to find some front window privacy shades for my grand Cherokee 2014. Problem is I cannot find there anywhere.

These are some of the closest matching images I could find that capture what I'm looking for.

http://i.imgur.com/mBuGbTj.png

The above images shows that the shades 'snap' in place, or they clip in. They look like they've been customised to fit the exact shape of that the window (whatever car model that is). And they don't actually cling to the window.

I'll stress that I don't need the privacy shades for when I drive (I don't want to impart my vision). What I do require them for is when my car is parked. I tend to leave gadgets / bags / a bike inside my car, and i don't want these items to be visible to the passersby / would-be thief.

The only shades I tend to come across have suction caps and are quute cumbersome. The static ones are ok but typically they're a one-size-fit-all and are normally quite small (and ugly).

Tinting has taken care of my rear windows but not my front ones. Being in Australia prevents me from tinting my front windows any darker than the legal tint (which doesn't really provide much in the way of privacy).

My question to the fellow jeep enthusiasts, is where on earth do I find such shades that will fit the front windows of my GC 2014?

I'd really appreciate anyone's help.

Cheers
Joe

I'm not really aware of any states other than Florida and California that allows dark tint on front windows. That being said....I have had numerous cars with dark tint and never had a problem with the "fuzz". My GC has the tint in the front that matches the shade in the back, and no issues. I'm not sure how strict they are down under though. My experience has been as long as your not "rollin dirty" they don't bother you much.

Hey mate, they're strict here.

Need to know how to locate those privacy shades if anyone has any clues? 😊

Actually they do not allow dark tint on front windows. Not sure about California, but I'm pretty sure Florida has a limit just like many other states. Here in IL we can now have tint on front door windows of 35%. I have 35% all around on our cars, and darker 20% on front windows of the Overland to match factory rear tint. They don't hassle you about that kind of junk anymore.

Remember folks, not tint... screens.

Good luck Joe. I've only seen these in European luxo barges. Bear in mind that a prospective villain would still be able to case your goodies through the windscreen... and would possibly be made interested by your cloaking efforts.

Cheers
Steve

You could just play dumb and get the darker tint like many cars do.

In NSW, the unmarked police cars use illegal dark tinting so you cannot see the uniforms of the officers. As they are also breaking the law, they were tending not to enforce it too strictly.

The Popo are able to get special approval for modifications otherwise not permitted. Same if you have a medical condition which requires that you severely limit UV exposure...

As far as ignoring it, well, it just depends on who you get and how busy they are. Maybe they've just found out that their wife has been getting tapped on the side by a guy with a Jeep. You'd definitely be written up!

Cheers,
Steve

Re: Struggling to find some 'Privacy Shades' for my GC 2014

There is a company in Australia(car later shades) that makes them. I had the same problem but did a exhaustive research to find something. End result, although pricey - are a EXCAT fit:

Jason, another question, do you have them for your two front windows? Because they're the only ones I need them for, the rest of the car is fully tinted (except front windscreen of course)

I never got to order them - it was my intention too, but with my Jeep now being wrecked, its on hold. Shipping to the states via DHL was something like $67 USD. I did exchange email direct with them a couple of times - her name was Carla, very friendly - expect a delay if your here in the states. Oz is 15 hours ahead of me.
