Struggling with decision... Overland or Summit

I am ready to pull the trigger on trading my 08 Overland to a 15 Overland or Summit. Wish I could get the goodies on the Overland that the Summit has and some of the ORII features on the Summit that the Overland has. Am I the only one that has struggled with this decision? If not, how did you all arrive on your decision?

Re: Struggling with decision... Overland or Summit

Been there... Wish I could option out Overland with summit goodies.

Picked Overland for ORA package, tow hooks, overall more rugged look, unique blue interior and better exterior color choices. Also cheaper.

Wish I was able to get headlight washers (instead of plastic fillers) and adaptive headlights.

Re: Struggling with decision... Overland or Summit

While you cannot add the Summit exclusive goodies to the Overland, you CAN put things like skid plates, tow hooks (requires some fascia modification) and alternate tires/wheels on the Summit aftermarket. So if the Summit bells and whistles are essential to you, that would be the way to go. Of course, there is a price involved with that...

Me...no question I'd be buying the Summit.

I went through the same and decided on the Overland, it's a first world problem and I don't think there's a wrong answer. Whatever fits you...

Re: Struggling with decision... Overland or Summit

I've also been trying to decide between a Summit and an Overland.

I really like the more capable look and ORA II features of the Overland. But the added features of the Summit also look very tempting.

I haven't ordered my 2015 yet, but when I do, it'll probably be a Summit.

I would pick the Summit, because it's the only one you can get in Auburn Perl, and Harman Kardon sound. Auburn looks amazing in the sun.

We went through the same "ordeal" LOL!

Went with the Overland....we liked the lighter Overland interior and the 18" wheels with the ORAII package (amongst other things!).

Order soon...Auburn is one of the four colors that are being discontinued according to Milous.

Re: Struggling with decision... Overland or Summit

It's a long story but I owned both earlier this year, so maybe this will help.

While I did like the look of the Overland since it's more rugged, in the end I preferred the Summit.

A couple of reasons I liked the Summit more, which may/may not apply to you:
  • The HK audio was a big step up
  • The headlight washers are a must in cold weather climates like where I live
  • The leather and headliner were much more luxurious
  • I did like the adaptive headlights
On the 2014's the Summit had a lot of chrome, which I was not crazy about, and for 2015 it looks like you can tone that down with a matte look.

Good luck.

I also went through this about a month ago and currently have a Summit on order.

The extra goodies on the Summit were very enticing to me, so I asked myself how much and what kind off roading will I be doing? Self said not a lot and mostly light trails, snow/ice, etc., thus my decision.

If you do a lot of heavy off roading, I definitely can see how the decision would be more difficult.

If I did a lot of heavy off roading, I wouldn't consider any WK2.

Re: Struggling with decision... Overland or Summit

I went with the Summit after realizing that the added features of the Summit are items that I use everyday. It will do any of the off road that I would ever do, and both are about the same for any winter driving. For example, you still have QL and the same drivetrain as the Overland. Love the HK sound system, adaptive headlights, and tech package. The interior quality is great as well.
