Good points. I use the JEEP Sunshade and it completely covers the entire windshield in my 2005 Jeep WK. I see that they make one for the 2011 WK2 as well. Once I get either a new Overland or Limited I'll get that Sunshade and probably tint the front windows 20%. That way I will protect the dash from the sun. I won't use leather conditioner though as I've always had nice leather furniture and leather seats in my Jeep and never used leather conditioner or protector.
Indeed I should have mentioned the sunshade and little things like trying to park with the butt of the JGC facing south. Even with all that, if you log enough regular driving miles the dash will get plenty of sun.
Laws vary on what you are allowed to do with windshield tints. (It's worth noting that windshields actually do attenuate a lot of UV - otherwise dashes would all dry up and crack within a year here.)
