Re: Summit - too much chrome?

The only thing I'm not a fan of on the Summit is the chromed area around the fog lamps. I do however love the grille insert and that's the one cosmetic change I'd make to the Overland. I wonder if they'll ever do the mesh part below the grille in the chrome finish, I'd like to see that.

I have a white overland. I added the chrome fog light buckets. For you "less chrome" fans who are summit owners, do you want my old black fog light buckets?

Re: Summit - too much chrome?

At first i really hated the chrome on my limited. BUT (and no offense to anyone) I like that the chrome only comes on the higher models. Kinda sets you apart from the base models.

Re: Summit - too much chrome?

It would set it apart if it was real chrome! Plastic is plastic, no matter what color it is.

Re: Summit - too much chrome?

Nobody uses real chrome anymore, it's too heavy, too expensive, pits and rusts, doesn't crush in an accident. Even $100k+ luxury cars use chrome plated plastic.

Re: Summit - too much chrome?

Exactly, but they like to charge alot extra for "chrome" packages for some reason.

I kinda like the crome in general, but the Summit's grill is just too plasticy looking... Like one of my kids toys. I think it would have looked much better in a polished aluminum like the wheels or make the criscrosses thinner so it didn't look so tacky. That being said, I will have to live with it if I buy a GC because I really like the saddle dash that you can only get on a Summit.

Re: Summit - too much chrome?

Again no offense, but when I see another wk2 Grand Cherokee, I immediately look for chrome parts to distinguish whether it is a lower or a higher model trim. Also the wheels set it apart as well.

Re: Summit - too much chrome?

One correction on the "chrome" Mercedes pictured earlier in this thread. It is not chrome; it is white gold. Google solid gold car and it will pop up. But it runs on biofuel....such a deal.

Meanwhile, as the owner of a 2012 Summit without the chrome tow hooks I am unhappy to report that Chrysler says the chrome tow hooks are something they call a rolling change and my unit was assembled before they put them on--and jacked up the price. I am still grumbling becuase the 2012 brochures show the Summit with them, so I should be able to "roll" into my dealership and have them put on so my unit is complete and then "roll" out looking like I am suppposed to look.
