Summit With Limited Or Overland Lower Fascias?

Has any Summit owner successfully swapped out the fascias and fender trim from a Limited or Overland?

I love the interior of the Summit. But I want the better approach angles of the lower trims and would want to be able to run rock rails.

Re: Summit With Limited Or Overland Lower Fascias?

Should be possible, but will be major expensive...remember, Summit isn't marketed for "serious off road" so there are a lot of parts to buy and install to do this modification. It's the same Jeep underneath, but you'll need to do both front and back and more...and change out the exhaust tips, etc.

Yeah the more I looked at... replace entire front and rear bumpers and trim pieces, modify the front to accept six ultrasonic sensors, replace fender flares, replace exhaust tips, add front tow hooks, add skid plates... probably around $10,000 in retail parts and paint.

Why doesn't Jeep offer an options package for the Summit that adds all the off road goodies? GRRRRRRRRRRRR

I realize there probably wouldn't be a ton of buyers for it, but it also wouldn't cost them really anything to develop it either?

Adding the OEM skid plates and tow hooks is fairly low cost, I did it for $550, you need to cut two small holes in the plastic for the hooks. only other difference is approach angle which is a little better on overland, rest of it, driveline, suspension and all is the same thing. you can also change to 18s if you want to go that route, I didn't.

Because, as stated, Summit is not marketed to the off-road crowd...it's marketed as a luxury trim level. They did this on purpose. Folks who want the OR2 package from the factory need to stick with the Overland. Yes, it doesn't have a few of the Summit goodies, but it also doesn't have any physical challenges to adding things like rock rails. Prior to MY14, "Summit" was an option package to the Overland. That was changed for MY14+ and Summit is a separate "lux" trim level with visual differentiators, much like SRT is a high-end performance level that has its own visual differentiators. Few people actually add the extra off-road stuff to the JGC when you consider the total market and the approximately 1200 a day that come off the assembly line. But those that do, are best served by purchasing Overland, Limited or Laredo if they want to play off the highways more than "light" off-road.

Yeah, silly marketing. At least prior to the MY14, you could have both the luxury AND the capability. Now, they are forcing you to compromise slightly one way or another.

. No doubt, but there are some things you can't get on the Overland. That is my gripe.

If the Summit is not going to be offered with the off road goodies, then give the Overland buyers an option to add the front park sensors, headlamp washers, high end stereo, active noise cancellation, saddle brown seats, etc.

Re: Summit With Limited Or Overland Lower Fascias?

there has to be a limit somewhere.....why not offer up SRT options into a Laredo/limited/overland/summit build? Would be cool to have a 6.4 Laredo sure.....but why have differences between any model with that logic?
