Re: Sunroof Usefullness?

I have had two Jeeps with sun roofs (2011 and 2014) and have yet to open either one. If Jeep had a "delete Option" on the sunroof, it would have been deleted. If I want to take ride in the summer with the roof open I just drive my 1968 Plymouth Sport Fury Convertible. Al

They can be ordered without sunroofs - that's how I configured and ordered mine. It was worth it to get exactly what I wanted and not the things I didn't want.

Re: Sunroof Usefullness?

The ability to control the shade independent of the glass would be nice. My '08 could have the glass tilted and the shade open about 6 inches...'vacuumed' out the interior and was virtually silent......if I want wind noise ...I will ride one of the motorcycles.

I don't understand -- you mean you can't? But it has a completely separate switch ... ?

I just went to check. You can position the shade wherever you want. But when you open the glass the shade then moves to predetermined positions.

Re: Sunroof Usefullness?

Huh. What positions are they? And what happens to the vented roof position if you then try to reposition the shade a bit?

Usefulness? Well, for one, without my sunroof I could not have proudly hoisted my 3ft trophy thru it whilst waving my checkered flag! ...just sayin'...

When I hit the close button on the shade with the glass in the vent position, the glass started closing. Hitting the shade button I could stop the shade, but the glass closed.

Without separate buttons you couldn't open, close, or position the shade without opening the glass.

Re: Sunroof Usefullness?

Interesting, thanks. So what's the closest to closed you can have the shade while the vent is open? And what does the shade do when everything is closed and you hit the button to open the vent?

When I opened the vent the shade opens to the point where the glass pops up, about half way. Vent raises the back of the moveable glass panel. It is not opening the the glass a little from the front.

I didn't think to try opening the glass a little and matching the shade to it.

Re: Sunroof Usefullness?

Not sure if this was addressed in previous posts but my panoramic sunroof became less desirable once I installed a roof basket. The harmonic distortion at about 30 mph was almost unbearable before the roof rack and two other issues emerged after installing the basket. First, the wind noise is pretty distracting at speeds over 45 mph with the sunroof open or vented. Second, back seat passengers can't really see out of it with a full load on the roof.

That said... I would absolutely go for the panoramic sunroof again. I really enjoy the extra light in the cabin and it feels super claustrophobic with the sun shade fully closed.
