Re: Sunshade recommendations?

Thanks for the suggestions. For those who have the "FOLDING" one on Amazon from ProTrim, or the Covercraft (both look similar, not sure if they're exactly the same) -- have you had problems with the material breaking down into little particles that get onto the dash? I've read this happening at least with the Covercraft after some time.

Re: Sunshade recommendations?

I'm also wondering if it would just be easier to get a really really light window film/tint applied to the windshield. The only question is cost and if it's as effective or I'd still need a shade in addition to it.

Re: Sunshade recommendations?

I've had zero issues with my folding sun shade. No breakdown, no "crumbs", etc. And it has a nice carry case for winter storage, too. In fact, I really wanted to get one identical for my wife's Outback, but it wasn't available when I looked at the time. I truly hate the one she has which is flimsy!

Jeepers, the film will not reflect the hot sun with any efficiency while the vehicle is parked. It may not be legal, either, depending on where you live.

It fits perfectly. As far as I can tell it is designed for it.

What holds it in position over the window, or do you need to fold the visors down and against it?
Thanks.

Re: Sunshade recommendations?

Thanks Jim.

I ended up going with the CoverCraft Flex Shield -- it's $20 cheaper than their UVS100 model, which appears to be very similar to the one on Amazon. It's $30 cheaper than the one on Amazon thanks to the $10 shipping.

I just couldn't bring myself to spend that much money on a sun shade. I figure this is a good compromise between the cheap ones that "fit" a wide range of vehicle and the UVS100/Amazon folding one from ProTrim.

I may end up regretting it, but hopefully not. I should get it some time next week so we'll see what happens.

You do need to fold the visors down. I believe most shades are this way, at least all the ones that I have owned. It was hard to spend $50 on this shade but for the amount of heat it keeps out I am glad I did.

My $6 shade from amazon breaks down into two pieces and folds up and fits nicely in the magazine holder on rear of passenger seat. Also works pretty doggone well...

I have the same one, from same place. I got it last year and it still works great. The only problem is the wire frame is starting to show through because of the stitching starting to unravel. It's a big shocker when it touches your skin after being under the AZ sun for hours!
