Re: Sure glad I traded for the Hemi

I really don't think the V-6 can compare to the Hemi. I had the 3.6 for five months and even though the Tsb's did make it better it was still sluggish off the line and between 30 and 50 it was sluggish. At highway speed it was fine. I found it to be very annoying at times. The numbers probably don't support it but I think the 2010 with the 3.7 feels quicker from a stop. Now that I have had the Hemi for a week I think saying they are anywhere in the same ballpark is ridiclous the Hemi pulls away from a light with no effort at all and from the way it feels would leave the 3.6 far in the dust. I can understand some are probably more than happy with the 6 and that's great, but for me it was not a good choice.

Re: Sure glad I traded for the Hemi

jp467... How bad did they beat you up on the trade-in? That's quite the bold move getting rid of it in five months time. But, as you've posted, you're happy with your new vehicle now, that's all that matters!

Re: Sure glad I traded for the Hemi

I took a hit on the trade, but I did not just trade because of the engine. It was because of all the problems I had with the vehicle. I just felt it would never be the same after all the work that had been done on it. Had I not had any issues I would have just lived with the 3.6 until the next time around.

They did make some improve to the V-6 pickup with the TSB's but it is still no match for the Hemi. This combined with all the problems I had with the first one made up my mind to just make the trade.
So you're now on your 3rd WK2? V6 to V8 back to V6?

Interesting stats. Here's another: I drive about 20k miles/ year, and at $4.75/ gallon that transfers to a savings of about $1080. Accelerating onto a highway ramp several times each day, but rarely at full throttle, maybe once a week or so; 52 weeks per year, .9 second per week, or 47 seconds per year: for $23/ second.

Maybe some of these guys hit every on ramp at full throttle. That reduces the cost to 74 cents/ second (assuming that type of driving scores them the EPA rated mileage figures). That's still $2700/ hr.

Yeah, the 5.7L is quite a bargain.

As several mentioned, its not the 1/4 mile or 0-60 times (unless you race), it is the every day driving pleasure, so your analysis is full of holes me thinks. The Hemi will cost more to run, but if you are already spending $45K, ehhh.

I rented a 400 mile old 2012 V6 while in Pittsburg last week, and that thing was annoying as heck in the hills, gutless unless you kept it wound out... which I would think doesn't do much for the mpg. The Hemi does not need to be wound out as much to be a pleasure to drive. On the level or at full throttle, the V6 felt good, although at full throttle it sounded like it was about to throw pieces all over . The mileage was great, however. I can see why some love the V6, that motor is no slouch at higher rpm and certainly adequate for most situations. You do have to beat on it a bit more on hills or curves, however. You don't have to work the V8 nearly as hard.

This V8 has been around for just a couple years, its far from the V8 monster Chrysler used decades ago. You could feel that thing coming blocks away.

"Here's where I tell you the 2010 Nissan Muran 3.5L does the 1/4 in the same exact time as your 5.7 Hemi."

Yeah but but that guy drives a piece of shit Nissan, so even though we tie, I still win.

That is correct, but the first one I would just like to forget about due to all the time it spent in the shop. I will say that they have made improvements to the pentastar/trans programming. It a least wants to go now when you step on the gas. I will be keeping this one longer I think they have worked out most of the issues and I am happy so far.

I'm sorry but it sounds like you haven't driven the Hemi V8.

I find that it has a LOT of power for passing. In fact, accelerating from 60 or 70 Mph is so smooth that one can easily find themselves coming close to hitting tripple digits if not careful.

There is No Replacement for Displacement!

Re: Sure glad I traded for the Hemi

Not only does the Hemi have more torque but it runs a bigger rear gear. Feels strong, and has great throttle feel.

Six has a smaller rear gear for fuel economy, and takes more pedal to get the same response. Again calibrated for better fuel economy.

No real reason to argue this point. The V-6 is much less expensive to buy and run, but the V-8 has more power. Every customer gets to take his choice. No winners or loosers here, but more power costs more money. Nothing new here.
