Maybe some of these guys hit every on ramp at full throttle. That reduces the cost to 74 cents/ second (assuming that type of driving scores them the EPA rated mileage figures). That's still $2700/ hr.

Yeah, the 5.7L is quite a bargain.
Sounds like Obama trying to explain health care reform

Does the Hemi still take 89 octane?

Yes, and I just filled up in Omaha for only $3.49 a gallon for 89 octane which is cheaper here. The 87 octane was $3.67.

Wow. That doesn't even make sense.. 89 can be used by any car that can take 87, so why wouldn't everyone just buy the 89?

Some makes/models have manufacturer recommendation of 87 octane. I'm guessing the 89 octane is cheaper here because it has 10% ethanol (corn) in it. I think most people here use 89 octane.

OK so they mix ethyl, which is about 100 octane, with regular. Here the wholesalers delver two grades, 87 and 91, both have 10% ethyl, and for 89 the two grades gets mixed at the pump.

Yep, ethanol increases octane, but decreases energy density.

Re: Sure glad I traded for the Hemi

Pure ethyl only has 2/3 of pure gasoline's BTU per gallon.
