Synthetic in 3.6L??

Just curious if anyone out there uses synthetic oil in their V6? I'm taking delivery of mine tomorrow and wondering if there is as big of a benefit for smaller engines as in the hemis.

Re: Synthetic in 3.6L??

I would say so. Synthetic oil doesn't break down nearly as quick as conventional. It will typically last the life of your filter. If you drive only 12K miles a year you would only have to change your 12K oil once a year. You can't do that will conventional. At least I wouldn't recommend it.

Syn is GTG - i noticed you're in Chicago - did you check out Field's Jeep? That's where I got mine and got an excellent deal and they flat-bed the Jeep all the way to Ohio too!

As long as it meets Chrysler's spec and is 5w30, run what you wish.

How would you be able to tell? It would run lousy on regular oil

Re: Synthetic in 3.6L??

I have always viewed Synthetic as the better choice simply because it does not break down like conventional oil. I always get 15K Filter and Extended Life Mobil 1. Change once a year regardless of the mileage placed on it. You can typically run a 15K filter around 17K without any problem. But if you are the kind of guy to change oil every 3-5K then I don't think you will notice a difference one way or another. But of course I am the only one with a 3.7L in a different series offering my words.
