Synthetic oils: Synpower??

Trying to understand the Chrysler MS6395 spec for oil.
What does this really mean and which oils meet this spec?
I would like to use Valvoline Synpower b/c the shop closest to me is a Valvoline shop. I have used their Blue Extreme in my F-250 diesel and it has done very well.
Valvoline claims to meet the MS6395 spec but it is not certified (?) due to Chrysler's demands. Not sure what that really is though.
Mobile One is certified but I really don't want to stock this and take it to a shop.

Yes, I do prefer going to a oil change shop so that I don't have to lug 7 quarts of oil around to take it to a recycler. Sorry that this might upset some of you that change their own oil.....i do apologize in advance.

Thanks!

For the 5.7, use any 5W-20 that has the API starburst logo and meets API SM/SN specs.

Re: Synthetic oils: Synpower??

I gave my dealer the "oil change" bottle of oil and had them do my oil change. They took care of my old oil and charged me only for the labor of changing my oil ($6).

Re: Synthetic oils: Synpower??

Valvoline Synpower meets the Chrysler spec as per the attached pdf pulled directly from their website. There's no such thing as "certified" for the Chrysler spec, Chrysler publishes a criteria, they don't test oil. If the oil meets those criteria then the oil manufacturer certifies it, not Chrysler. Now, companies like Porsche, BMW, VW (see a trend here) "certify" the oil as OEM equivalent but Chrysler, Ford and GM do not though GM is pushing another certification, Dexos but that's an entirely different animal.

No issues, it will be fine.

Chrysler MS-6395 0W-20 5W-20 5W-30 10W-30
