Should I use Synthetic oil in my new GC V6? Because synthetic oil's molecules are much more consistent in size and shape, they are better able to withstand extreme engine temperatures. By contrast, the unstable molecules in conventional oil can easily vaporize or oxidize in extreme heat. I am leaning on using Conventional Oil for the break-in period (2k-3k) then change to Synthetic oil. Because conventional (mineral) oil molecules are more random in size and will aid in seating engine parts. I have not found any information from Jeep on using Synthetic oils in the V6 Your thoughts…..

So how do you do this? Do you change your own oil? Or do you purchase it and bring it to mechanic? What is a chance my "street corner mechanic" stocks synthetic oil?
garages will have synthetic but will most likely charge $70-$85 for the oil change. if you buy the oil and filter from walmart it will be around $30 if walmart doesnt have good filters for the WK2 (mopar, k&n, mobil1,etc) you can get them from the dealer pretty cheap
Find a good synthetic and take it to a place you trust or better yet do it yourself (if you know what you're doing) and make sure you are using a good filter remember it is work a few bucks extra for a good filter especially when you think of the overall cost of a new engine. Walmart has great prices on the 4 or 5 quart jugs of Mobil 1 and other synthetics watch for sales. Personally I say Mobil 1 and Pure One Filters. But any synthetic better than conventional.
Don't know about the mobil 1 filter I use Pure One filters. But definitely need the 5w-20 for the MDS system to operate on the Hemi. And as was suggested by others good idea to do a change at 500-1000 miles. I do 1000 but either way if there are any real metal particles from breakin or sealant or gasket residue it is a good idea. Besides it gets you over to conventional sooner.
