Re: Tailgate, can the beeping be disabled?

Slightly off topic, do you have to use the automated functionality of the lift gate? When my truck eventually arrives, i plan to get a thule box for up top. It won't always be on the truck, just for the occasional ski trips or camping. If it is slightly too long, i was concerned that the automated lift gate will constantly be hitting it as it opens, and then perhaps automatically closing because it comes into contact with the box. Is there a way around this?

Caddy SRX's have a programmable lift height, would be a sweet addition if anyone is listening for 2013. For us, not sure what you do there other than manual lift.

Nope not worried, the dealer checked everything out and said the beeper module went out (no mention of any water intrusion) they ordered a replacement but I never went back to have it replaced.

I guess thats really the point of what now, in hindsight, seems like a stupid question! You can easily manually close and open the lift gate, right? i don't have to use the automated functionality? I have never seen it work manually when I have been at the dealership.

Yea to do it manually you just have to override the automatic opening and closing, more or less, use your hand to open and close the tailgate with a little pressure..

I used to use a bit of hand pressure to stop the automatic movement of the liftgate, too. But last time I waxed, I found by accident that the liftgate will stop immediately if you pull again on the handle while it's moving up. (Maybe everyone already knew this already ...)

From the manual, page 46:
• If the liftgate handle is pulled while the power liftgate is closing, the liftgate will reverse to the full open position.
• If the liftgate handle is pulled while the power liftgate is opening, the liftgate motor will disengage to allow manual operation.

I really wish I had the option to disable liftgate chime in my EVIC. Heck, I don't even have the option available to auto unlock the doors ...

Mike

Re: Tailgate, can the beeping be disabled?

Mine stopped working after the dealer had to remove the inside trim in the back to fix another issue. Never worked since and they offered to fix it, but I told them to leave it alone as it suits me anyway

Under "System Setup", scroll down to the Liftgate Chime setting and de-select it to turn the chime OFF.

Here's a pic for the slow and nonbelievers...
Simma down nah!
