Tailgate, can the beeping be disabled?

I suspect the answer is no but he goes. When opening or closing the tailgate it will beep (I believe 3 times) when using the remote or local PB. Is there a way of disabling the sound? It sounds like a Commercial Truck backing up.

Regards,
NHman

Doesn't that worry you? It is a blessing, but maybe water got inside somewhere and did more damage.

Yes, the Beep can be disabled via the EVIC.

I can't remember exactly where in the settings but I found and did it to mine.

Ive seen the horn beep for the LOCK doors in the EVIC or the horn beep for remote start, but not the tailgate in the EVIC...

Re: Tailgate, can the beeping be disabled?

You can't disable it. Mine was shut off by itself and I wanted it to be on because I rather wanted it to be on when kids're around. So, my dealer replaced the beeping speaker and it's fixed. If you really want to turn it off, you can play with the wire going into that beeper, then it won't make beeping sound.

WRONG!!

I've only owned my 2012 V8 4x4 Overland for 3 days but I already figured it out!!!

Under "System Setup", scroll down to the Liftgate Chime setting and de-select it to turn the chime OFF.

Here's a pic for the slow and nonbelievers...

Re: Tailgate, can the beeping be disabled?

Must be a 2012 addition, my '11 Overland does not have the option in the setup menu.

I don't recall my menu having the option for Liftgate Chime. I'll look again today but perhaps and stated previously was an update for 2012 models. Otherwise the simple answer is to manually open/close the liftgate or deal with the sound.

NHman

One of the first changes I made after hearing that thing once... Must be a 2012 tweak.

Re: Tailgate, can the beeping be disabled?

Anyone think the dealer could offer some sort of software upgrade for the 2011's so we have the option too? Let's hope.
