Take a look at our Mercedes cousin!

When you look you see the similarities. No idea on the pricing but it's interesting to see the commonality.

Re: Take a look at our Mercedes cousin!

Honestly, I think I'll take a overland over the new ML. Not crazy about it at all.

Honestly, I like it. The 455 pound feet of torque from the diesel is nice as well.

I was wondering how long it would take for someone to catch that and the 7 speed gearbox.....

Re: Take a look at our Mercedes cousin!

I saw lots of pics at Edmunds Insideline. It's very similar to the old version in looks.

But, the engines are really interesting, especially the new 3.0 L turbo diesel. Can't wait for the WK2's diesel to arrive here.

Re: Take a look at our Mercedes cousin!

I think the Jeep looks better; the Mercedes looks like an adapted shape.

I'd have to see the interior to know if I'd go for the Benz, but the M-B powertrain options might be nice. As would the dealer network.

Re: Take a look at our Mercedes cousin!

Speaking as an old Mercedes customer, the Jeep version looks better but of course looks are a VERY subjective thing. Regarding powertrains, given the problems we've had with our E and S class vehicles over the years, I'm perfectly happy with the "old tech" Hemi and 545RFE considering I usually keep vehicles for 8-10yrs. Too many gear ratios makes for a fussy driving experience, IMHO.

I agree on the shape. I never liked the previous versions and this one doesn't win me over either.

As for the dealer network, remember this is an entry level vehicle for MB and even then I'll bet the base model will be priced higher than the Summit so with that price comes the upgraded dealership experience. If MB dealers needed to sell cars at the margin Jeep dealers do I doubt they could sustain their business model.

Re: Take a look at our Mercedes cousin!

Meh looks like a van to me, the wk2 is cooler looking IMO I would choose the BMW x5 or jeep overland before that.
