Does anyone know where to find the label on a WK2 that shows the Test Group/Engine Family? My Jeep is in the shop and I need the number for a program by the Air Resource Board of California and he can't find it anyhere...

You don't want to give your jeep to CARB- four grand $ounds nice but there's no better way to ruin your tires, transmission, and who knows what else than running it on a dyno all day for weeks... and who knows what else they'll do. Also don't forget you'll probably get a 1099 along with your check cause the tax man's gotta get his too.

I considered responding to that letter- but figured they'd have to double it to get my vehicle...

It did say that there wouldn't be any damage and if something did somehow happen, they would pay for any repairs. I just wanted to offset the penalties I will be paying when I turn in my lease and I thought the $4k would help...plus it would be 2 months where I wouldn't be adding a ton a miles on my lease that I am already way over on, lol.

Newsflash. Dyno testing will put miles on your odometer.

You are over now and CARB is going to put many more miles on it before they are done. That $4K from them will be more like $2K by the time you pay Fed and State taxes on it. To me, it's not worth the money nor what new rules and regulations that will come out of their testing.

I would have told them if they want a JGC soo bad, go buy one like everybody else. In other words, Go F*** yourself. CARB is one of the reason we don't have the ability to get MY17 JGC diesels (them and the EPA) and CARB makes other rulings the EPA goes with that had put all kinds of stuff on our vehicles.

I'm from the government and I'm here to help is not what you want to hear.

Even less than that after he gets done paying the mileage overage on his lease.

Ok, after reading all your guys posts on here I dove into this a little more. I hadn't heard anything about the diesel's not being shipped and any of the other stuff going on with FCA and the EPA until I saw your posts. I guess I head my head in the sand...After reading alot of posts and news articles the last few days, I am going to take your advice and not let CARB use my Jeep. I love my diesel and I would like to get another one next year when my lease is up. Sorry to everyone for being uninformed and almost sending my car into them.

Not knowing his tax bracket, those numbers were a guess and I believe most people understood that, however the feds will most likely get 28% of that $4K and god knows how much the People's Republic of Commiefornia will get but I know when I lived there for a short time, income tax really sucked there. so maybe not 50% but it won't be all $4K when done. Plus it's a lease that is currently over on the yearly miles count. Dyno testing will just keep tacking on more miles on his already over mileage lease.

Sorry my numbers were not exact but I didn't stay in a Holiday Inn express last night.

Never mind the potential for damage. I was considering a 4Runner too and a member on a Yota forum posted about how he loaned his FJ Cruiser to a company contracted by Toyota to do emissions analysis and they were unaware it had full time 4WD and smoked his transfer case.
