Re: Texas folks group buy?

Whew! Just got home a couple of hours ago from my Houston delivery and 2 day return home to SoCal, and thought I would post some thoughts about the transaction.

I arrived around 1:40 PM on Wednesday; Brainstormer picked me up at the airport (what a guy - thanks again!). Got a quick intro from him on some of the features as we made our way to the dealership (can't beat having a personal tutor!).

Mark had my short list of "be sure you do these things" posted on his white board next to his desk, and everything was taken care of, with one exception; he installed my front license plate holder himself after we arrived - said he does this now as some of us here on JG want it installed and others do not, and he just wants to make sure it's done according to the individual's request. It only takes a couple of minutes and there are indents where the holes need to be drilled, so it wasn't a big deal and it's perfectly centered.

Brainstormer caught one other item that I think should be passed along - on the rear license Plate frame kit, there's another kit (or they're a part of the plate frame kit?) that needs to be installed that includes some rubberish "bumpers" that hold the lower portion of the metal license plate from contacting the paint; it wasn't installed on mine just as it wasn't installed on his. Once he pointed it out, Mark went back into the shop and installed the bumpers.

The "not so good":
OK, there were a few things that the prep dept. could improve on and yes, I'm being picky with this. First, there were a couple of spots of DEF around the fuel tank door (Mark wiped them off). Next, there were a few areas on the exterior that didn't get dried off completely after it was washed (Mark also took care of these), and the inside of the windshield was poorly cleaned (read "smeared") - I didn't notice that until I was driving into the sun on Thursday afternoon coming into El Paso. And last, the tire pressures were off - 3 different pressures out of 4 tires. No wonder it pulled to the right. After adjusting them, all was well.

The total transaction took about 2 hours; the longest wait was for finance as I took the Chrysler 1.9% financing, which was .09% less than my credit union. I also picked up the rear cargo mat from them.

All things considered, I'm very pleased with how everything turned out, and would do it again. For those who will choose to order from him in the future, I would just emphasize what others before me have said - make sure he knows what you expect, and reiterate those expectations a day or two before your arrival. Add "check tire pressures" to your lists!

Oh, and ENJOY THE DRIVE back home! I had an awesome 2 days to get used to mine, and it was worth every tired minute.

Gary

Re: Texas folks group buy?

Thanks
I plan to see if Brainstormer can pick me up as well. Nothing like a forum brother to school you on a few things.
I too am picking mine up on the 4th and get in when you did so I am expecting to be in rush hour traffic.
I will be sending Mark a voice mail and email to confirm the few things I need done.
I think my paperwork will need to be redone since I am able to reuse my plate in Florida and save buying a new one which is expensive.

Was your diesel tank and DEF full?
I am FINALLY going to get this thing AA willing and I think weather will be OK for my flights.

Thanks for the update...

Re: Texas folks group buy?

Congrats Recon - that's a hell of a break in drive!

And, if anyone needs a ride and can't find one - PM me. If my schedule is open I'd be glad to help out a fellow JG member.

Congrats on the new ride. Glad to hear the problems were only minor ones.
