Re: The Official "I want to remove my '14 CD Player" thread

Wonder if the '11-'13 bin will fit. Would be funny if it were really a $25 USB CB player you could put anywhere.

As to why was it moved, I'll wager the '14 radio is not 5.5" deep and they are using the new space for other things. My tablets are under an inch thick.

Also have the equivalent of 150 CDs in 5GB on a microSD card (been using 32GB for U$20 but 64GB just dropped under U$40.

Times are really changing. See here. Can get radio (and TV/Movies) this way today.

I expect the next new vehicle I buy will have an amp, speakers, and a docking station.

Lessee (yes, Virginia, these are prices I pay now):

32GB WIndows 8 Tablet: $300
32 GB SD Card: $20
OBDWiz and USB dongle: $25
Microsoft Street and Trips (Sat Nav) with external receiver: $50
External DVD/CD burner/player: $25
Cables and connectors: $20

of course you need a 15-year-old geek to asskble/integrate it.

I don't think that thread has all the parts required to make it 'the same' as the laredo...

If you look at myoung84 photos earlier on this thread
The Official "I want to remove my '14 CD Player" thread particularly the lid part.
You can see there is only one button/catch to open the lid.

The laredo has two buttons/catches one to open the lid with the top tray, the other to open the lid leaving the top tray closed.

Can anyone with a 2014 Laredo post the same pictues from their vehicle?

It looks to me like we would need to order the bin and the tray and the lid.

Does the Laredo lid have the white stitching, or would the plastic lid insert come away from the leather padding allowing you to keep your original leather part and change the inside part?

I really want to swap out my CD player but it is starting to look harder than first thought.

To those who have the cd player in their 2014 GC, how is it operated? From the screen? The steering wheel? Do the cd's play well? Thanks.

Re: The Official "I want to remove my '14 CD Player" thread

I asked the dealer to work out something with me. They can have the CD player and I'll take some accessories instead. The truck I was getting did not have a player and I liked the space in there. Then some idiot salesperson took the truck I had on hold with a deposit and got rear-ended. They shipped down another one but it has the CD player in it.

They've got the regular compartment now and I'm taking my GC in so they can swap it. I don't own any CDs and have transferred everything I have to my media center. I have like 4000 songs on a stick in the car.

They can have that thing back. I need a place for my gun, not a CD player.

Thanks SoulStealer,

@losbot when your dealer fits the regular part, can you check if it comes with the top tray as per SoulStealer's first photo ... if it does can you get the part number(s) and share with us here - thanks.

I suspect it will be 3 components armrest lid insert, top tray & storage bin.

I'll look into it tomorrow when I'm there. I do not recall seeing that lid on the '14 GC when I first saw it but ill double check and ask for part numbers.

Re: The Official "I want to remove my '14 CD Player" thread

It does NOT come with that top cover we see in the pics. It's just a nice, big storage space.

Not that I have. The dealer did it for me because I didn't want it from the start. The tech DID say you have to take apart the entire center to swap it out.

Hi Nikon, That would be much appreciated, the dealers round my way have been less then helpful when enquiring about removing the CD player and say they can't even source the part.

Before I ship one over from the US an idea about the complexity of doing-it-yourself plus confirmation of the correct part numbers would be a confidence booster.

Thanks,
