Re: Things you have towed with a Grand Cherokee

I tow these two items.

Hydraulic Dumping trailer 5000 LBS GVWR
I use this probably every 2 weeks over the Spring, Summer, Fall.

Don't have a photo with it mounted on the WK2. 4500 LBS
I only tow it when bringing it to dealer for service.
I used to Launch it with old Jeep but lately been using a Kubota.

Yea, I'm jealous of L for that new Portax trailer, Tom. I've been coveting a Böckmann for years and she beat me to it.

Dang...really impressed the diesel can haul this amount of weight. Nothing like low end torque!

What model Jayco do you have? I used to have a 2015 Jayco JayFlight 28BHS. Sold it last summer when the military moved me to Italy. My 2015 WK2 had no trouble towing that trailer.

Re: Things you have towed with a Grand Cherokee

Has anyone here towed at or above the max 7200lb rating. Can anyone shed light on how the quadralift air suspension would act if excessive tongue weight was applied. Sorry for the questions but looking at a travel trailer that is just slightly above the 7200lb limit. Thanks for any help. I have a 2014 Eco Diesel with ORAII and quadralift.

Above 350 lbs tongue weight requires a Weight Distribution Hitch. QL may "level" the load, but it will not keep the front end of your vehicle weight-loaded, causing serious potential safety issues with steering and braking. And I would not recommend you exceed the manufacturer's limit which is already generous and doesn't allow very much in-tow-vehicle cargo weight as it is.

I don't think I would go there. I have towed my #5700 travel trailer around 6000 miles of it's 14,600 mile life. I am comfortable at this weight but personally, would not exceed #6000.

Could the eco handle it, probably but you will exceed your tongue weigh, which should be 10-13% of your trailer weight. The limit is #720. Not the best thing for a unibody vehicle.

I don't have the quadralift but have a WDH. Don't know how long the TT is that your looking at, mine is about 25 foot.

Because of the fairly short wheel base of the JGC, going more than 27ft would be in my opinion, pushing the limits on safety.

If you don't do a lot of mountains and hills, which I deal with every time I tow, you could go to the max. weight limit. I just wouldn't go there.

In case of an accident, you could have liability issues exceeding the towing capacity.

Just my opinions based my towing miles.
