I completely understand that statement. You just stated before that the test drive of the V8 fell through and you couldn't get a rental at all, but maybe you were trying to get a V8 for the weekend and I didn't get that. If you haven't tried that with the dealer, give it a shot.
The V8 at the dealer is the one that feel through. The dealer started putting conditions on the test drive that I was uncomfortable with. The Overland has 7500 miles on it, and it has quite a few minor scratches in the cargo area from sliding things in and out. I also noticed that it has a short, but deep scratch on the liftback. I just felt that I might be held accountable for some of these items if I did not go through the entire vehicle with a fine tooth comb and document every small flaw. And I am sure I would miss some.

I find my wife's 2011 Outback Limited to be very comfortable to drive and travel long distances in...and we get 30 mpg, too. That said, my Summit is more comfortable with the sacrifice of 9-10 mpg down to 20-21 hwy.

Glassmtn, I would not let those cargo blemishes deter you at all, nor do they suggest abnormal wear and tear of the vehicle.

The chrome strips on the floor of the cargo bay scratch in a calm breeze, most of us use the Mopar or Wearhertech cargo liners anyway to keep things from sliding around or to maintain spills. Same goes for a minor scratch on the interior plastic of the liftgate, if you use the cargo for anything such as a bike, tools, or other gear it happens.

Re: Thinking of Buying a 2012 Overland Hemi

The scratches and blemishes are not deterring me from a purchase. I am a little concerned that the dealership is going to claim I made them during an extended test drive, and charge me for them. I know how rental car companies treat small blemishes, and I am comfortable with that. The dealership would not allow me to bring food or liquids into the car on the extended test drive. And yet when I took a 15 minute test with it, I noticed there were coffee stains on the center console. The dealership was acting as though the car was flawless and it is not. I just don't want to have to be responsible for them if the dealership claims I caused them on the test drive.
