Latch release on my '14 GC broke, but instead of taking it to the dealership and risking even more damage being done during the repair I ordered the latch release for 30 bucks including shipping and fixed it myself: COVER-LATCH RELEASE | Genuine Mopar | 6BE97DX9AA. It would be interesting to hear your dealership's response if you showed them this link.

or, the latch is not available through that point in the supply channel the dealer needs to use. Knowing that Sno is a VIP they didn't want to keep him waiting.

Re: Thinking of dropping my Jeep

I just want my jeep to be so reliable that I don't know anyone by name in the service department.

That will never happen... with any vehicle.

Well, Sno, at least you have your steering wheel centered for free. I paid a four-wheel alignment at my dealership for that TSB. I can completely understand your feeling. Honestly, I would sell mine if it wouldn't make me lose so much money now.

When I had my 01 GC, which I owned for 7yrs, the only time it went into a dealership to get fixed is when the fan clutch when out. My 08 Trailblazer was never in for recalls as long as I owned it (3yrs)

When I told them about it over the phone originally, they didn't understand what I was talking about so I brought it in quickly so they could see it. The parts manager is the one who ordered the part. Why it wasn't just the 1 latch part is beyond me but whatever. It's done, fixed, and didn't cost me a dime.

Very funny Bill. They thought I signed up for it but I did nothing to get that status (other than be awesome always!). haha. I don't yell at the dealership people, I understand that things break and I just want it fixed.

The dealership never touched anything with my tires or alignment. What TSB are you referring to?

In terms of capability, it's a SIGNIFICANTLY lesser vehicle, yet costs $5K more. You better be getting the red carpet treatment, you downgraded and paid more! And yet you expect service to be the same at your Jeep dealer? The difference between those two vehicles is NIGHT and DAY. I can't believe you're even trying to make the comparison!
Believe it. In my view, if Jeep wants to play with the big boys when it comes to luxury vehicles, then they better equip the dealerships to treat their clientel as such. Doesn't matter if it's an SUV or a car. Are you saying that even though someone pays $44,000 or more for a Jeep ($50,000 plus for a Summit), you shouldn't expect the level of service one would get at a more upscale dealership?

Quote:
Quite frankly if you can give up your Jeep for a Sedan you didn't need the capabilities of the Jeep to begin with and made the wrong choice.
I wanted an AWD luxury vehicle, and at first the Grand Cherokee fit the bill...but it's reliablity was dismal...so I dumped it. If I wanted a TRUE offroad capable vehicle. I would have bought a Wangler.

Quote:
Do I wish Jeep's service was better? Well, I guess, don't we all? Better w/o having to pay for it is a good thing after all. But even though my rinky-dink service department isn't gold plated, they treat me right and fix things, so I'm OK without the nail salon. The mercedes is a great CAR, but it's a CAR. It simply can't do what the Jeep can, it's completely different. Apples/oranges. Enjoy it, but for God's sake please stop trying to compare the two.
I disagree...again, money is money...and my C300 4Matic does things a Grand Cherokee simply can't as well.

Quote:
Why didn't you buy a Mercedes SUV? Let me guess...comparably equipped it's what, $10-20 grand more?
The MB SUV's were more money, but I thought it was time for a change of vehicle. I've bounched between SUVs and cars for years, so after 2 1/2 years driving a Grand Cherokee, I felt like owning a car again...one that was AWD of course.

Quote:
Let's not pretend you're not paying for your nail salon.
Don't be a jerk now...face it, you're jealous!
