Re: Thinking of dropping my Jeep

Sno, Sorry to hear that you are having so many problems with your 14 GC. As you know, I also have a 14 Overland built July 23, now with 17K miles. The only problem I had was a year ago when the radio stopped playing from the USB drive. The dealer did an update and it's been fine since. I have not had any of the recalls done either as my Jeep shifts just fine. Service manager said, if I am happy with everything, they will do the recalls when I trade it in on a 2017. Don't know if I have been lucky or because mine was a later build that I have not had any troubles.

But I did get some bad news last week when I stopped by my dealer ship. The owner, who is a friend of mine, said he is selling First Chrysler in Manitowoc to another company that has several Jeep dealerships in the area. I don't blame him as he is 71 like me and wants to retire. All his current employees will remain though. So not sure how I will like going to a mega-dealer that you don't know the owner.

Al

I didn't get enough of a response to confirm it is fixed. My current vehicle is set to 68 and I have never touched it since day one.

I really want that 16 Summit, but don't want to live MY14 all over again.

I don't understand why in some GCs the temperature control works and others it doesn't. I set mine at 70 almost 2 years ago and have never touched it since. I do notice that in very cold weather it does at times over-shoot the temperature a bit before it settles down to the set temperature. Al

I have an early 2014 and my HVAC was a mess, frying me in the winter, until they came out with the HVAC flash about a year ago. Once it had the flash all was fine just set it at 72 auto and never touched it. Might be some people have not had the flash?, mine was outside of the TSB date range of the flash but they did it anyway and completely fixed it a year ago. Wintertime operation was bad enough i would have eventualy got rid of it if the flash had not worked.

That sounds like Bergstrom automotive, they have a bunch of dealerships in Appleton/Oshkosh area.

I always had mine set at 68 with no issues until they did the update on it, ever since it has been crappy.

Re: Thinking of dropping my Jeep

March 2013 build here. Only two issues besides recalls, a horn failed ($25 fix) and needed a new water pump. I got the last two recalls (of three total so far) done at the same time as the water pump, so only two trips to the dealer so far. The Hemis sometimes like to destroy their water pumps, and I knew that before hand from my research, it isn't just a WK2 thing, so I don't hold that against it.

Sorry to hear of all the issues with these normally fine vehicles. Good luck to those that are bailing, I wish you well.

What symptoms did you experience as you noticed the water pump was going out?

Re: Thinking of dropping my Jeep

So randomly yesterday while driving down the road I decided to try and reboot the UConnect system to see if everything would stay correct, nope. The clock would start at 6:00 and the navigation would have me off by 10 miles atleast driving in the opposite direction. I did it a few times lastnight as well as this morning on my way into work and I was able to keep doing it. I'll do it again before dropping off at dealer in the hopes it might stick for the service guys to see when I bring it in tomorrow.

Re: Thinking of dropping my Jeep

Have they replaced that head unit and made sure it's up to date? Also have they replaced the sharkfin antenna?

Not yet. When I was on the phone with the Case Manager from FCA, they were thinking that would be the next thing they would need to do. Replacing the Sharkfin makes sense as well..We shall see what happens when I bring it in tomorrow.

Re: Thinking of dropping my Jeep

Auto climate control is something that has been touchy for me in every vehicle I have owned. Chrysler, Ford, Jeep, Chevy and GMC all had weird issues around the auto climate control.
For example my current Silverado's auto is completely useless when the outside temperature is between 40 and 50 degrees, dont know why but it looses its mind and I run it on manual.

Re: Thinking of dropping my Jeep

I had many issues with buffering and just the general process of the radio receiving signals whether it was satellite or radio, once the sharkfin antenna was replaced the issues were gone. That's just one component of your problems sno but hopefully getting a new radio and the antenna replacement will fix your issues.
