Since its such a nice Saturday and hearing that my local dealer has gotten a few 14's in,I was thinking of going by and test driving the refreshed 14" Wk2, im curious how it drives with the new 8 speed trans coupled with the hemi. They have a few limiteds im going to look at but By all means im just going to test drive and not buy...lol im pretty happy with my 11' limited already...
Eh, maybe.. i guess i never found the right one..lol Im hoping i can get thru a test drive without buying...since im the kind of person who loves gadgets and new technology..lol:lol:
Ill ask the dealer when the lux2 package is supoosed to come out, i forgot that Chrysler took away the hids as being standard so i may have to get the lux2 so i can have the hids... IF and when i decide on the 14'.. i will let you all know how the test drive went...
I drove a 2014 Overland V6 4x4 yesterday and was impressed about how the V6/8 speed combination moved the vehicle. Even with Eco on, the acceleration was adequate, and a lot better with eco off. The car was very smooth and quiet as well. It didn't accelerate quickly enough to race people from stoplights, but it did well for a 5000 lb car.
The interior was much nicer in appearance than previous models. The Navi screen looked really nice.
Interior build quality overall was very good, but some of the switches felt a little cheap, the glove box just fell open rather than being nicely damped and the center console cover felt flimsy. I would say the interior build quality is on par with acura/infiniti, but is up there with Audi on looks and the electronics interface.

Well if you like gadgets and electronics then its going to be very difficult to not want a 14 after driving it. The technology makes the 11-13's seems like a decade old. It was cool when I was test driving an Overland, it was like I was in the cockpit if a plane as it was telling me the speedlimit if the streets I was on as I exceeded them haha. The new Evic and nav are awesome!!!!!
Just got back from driving a V8 Overland. It was great! Some thoughts:
Some posters had mentioned the ride with the 20's was rough. Coming from a Type S Acura the ride was fantastic. Ride quality was great, although the roads weren't terrible where I drove it. The wife loved it, even in back, and she gets car sick very easily.
The super sunroof is a great touch too, but it got hot inside quickly on a 40 degree day. Hopefully the motorized shade is durable.
Nav/electronics are great, except for heated/vented seat controls. That will take some patience and dexterity without a passenger on board. Didn't get to play with all of the screen functions but the salesman took me through the highlights and it is really cool.
The Hemi is great. I didn't hammer it but even in Eco it was peppy. I was going to try to hold out for the CRD but I may be swayed.
You have to be a total masochist to want the light beige interior. The GC I drove arrived with shipping damage inside; it was totally demolished. The beige shows EVERYTHING. Every scrape, nick, bump, speck of dirt and dust. Not good, black or indigo for sure.
I read it in a review of the uconnect system in one of the online magazines. Actually I read it in two, but that's because somebody committed plagiarism. I'm trying to find it, as it listed the commands to use. If I come across it again I will post a link, unless I get my Jeep first. Then I'll figure it out one way or the other.
What's interesting is that it was also in a couple of online mags, but I can't find the articles now. I wonder if they got the info right here, from you, and then had to take them down.
Well i test drove a 14' limited with the hemi ORA2 and the 8.4 nav radio, it had a nice ride and the hemi sounds good as usual, the 8 speed shift pattern would take some getting used to but it got up to speed quickly and smoothly. The gauge cluster looked like something out of an aircraft but it looks good and the 7 inch screen is kinda neat. The shifter is different but it does its job. I love the black headliner, it makes it feel like a stealth mobile.. the 8.4 nav is awesome, i played around with it and i like the fact it has apps on it and it fairly easy to navigate the radio and climate controls. The front and rear refresh looks better in person, i couldn't tell if the headlights were hid or halogen but they appear to be projectors as is the foglights. The one thing that i do not like is the removal of the flipper glass, since im sure people might haul long pieces of wood etc, i guess the roof rack would get more use then. All in all its still a jeep and i think that Chrysler did a good job of refreshing an already great vehicle, I know people don't like some things about it but i know Chrysler cant please everyone.. but they do try.
I may talk to my salesman... no wait i said i wouldn't trade again....

The standard headlights on the Laredo and Limited are halogen projectors (as are the fog lights); the bi-xenon HIDs that are standard on all the other trims are available on the '14 Limited as part of the Lux Group II package. You know the '14 is calling you...
