I guess i just wont "Tap" any wires, ill go straight to the fuse box and use the DIY provided here.
The OP had a good point in wiring full time instead of just through ignition. Had he only wired the ignition he would have missed the entire key deal.

Re: This is why you should invest in a dashcam

Two estimates.

Shop A $1160 and Shop B $2477.

Both reputable shops with very good ratings.
I've had shop B do some work for me in the past and it turned out good.

Thoughts?

Why is shop B twice as much as shop A?

Re: This is why you should invest in a dashcam

$250 out of pocket deductible from me which I get back if and when this jabroni pays up.

I think shop B is high and shop A is low. Shop A claims 24 total hrs and B 34.
Shop A is so low that it makes me think they won't do the job right.

Do both shops have a breakdown / estimate of the work that will be done? Usually they have if this is being submitted to the insurance company.

Re: This is why you should invest in a dashcam

Go with shop B. If theyve done work on your vehicle previously and you trust them then it should be a no brainer. Why should you shop for the cheapest rate to save that scumbag money?

Shop B seems quite pricey. I got an estimate for an entire quarter panel replacement from 3 shops and they were between $2500-3000 and around 25hrs total for paint/labor hours.

I don't have your estimate, but I'm guessing they want to paint the whole side of the Jeep to blend? At least to the front fender. And if that's the case they have to take windows/trim/etc out and the seal along the top. They will probably sand the entire door and quarter panel.

But, at the end of the day, if it's not a claim on your insurance (guessing it's comprehensive?) quality is your priority. $250 isn't much to get your jeep back to the way it was.

Re: This is why you should invest in a dashcam

^ its $250 MOFSTEEL shouldnt have to spend in the first place. He did nothing to cause the damage so he shouldnt have to pay a dime.

I would take this guy to small claims court. Usually anything under 10k and they dont allow attorneys. You can get him for the deductible, insurance premiums, and any lost wages from having to missing work since your vehicle is in the shop.

If you collect from your own carrier, you can't go after your deductible unless your company tells you, in writing, that they are giving up the right to subrogate. It is up to them to get your deductible back. Insurance rates shouldn't go up because the liability is 100% on the other party, plus this will probably be a comprehensive loss which don't normally affect rates. So you can't go after premiums. Most judges will tell you to take a hike on lost wages, but might allow the cost of renting a reasonably priced car, but only if you actually rent and pay for it out of pocket. In most states, even the aggrieved party has an obligation to mitigate damages.

While some Small Claims judges do hand down decisions that have no basis in law, most don't want to turn any incident into a pay day.
