Re: This is why you should invest in a dashcam

Another reason to have a dashcam

Video from my dash cam - Kid on Bicycle (I was driving my Challenger)

(skip to 50 seconds in) This kid was less than 2 seconds away from meeting his maker. I slowed the video down and I don't think he ever looked in my direction. This is much closer than it looks. With the wide angle lens on the dash cam - objects are closer than they appear.

Youtube must have compressed the video as the quality is not good after uploading.

That's why I haven't jumped on the current offerings for such a thing, aside from the bad reviews I see on a lot of them.

I've contemplated getting a cheap dashcam that has a swivel camera on it, which would mean the camera is seperate from the recorder portion (as opposed to those with a single backer board behind the camera lens).

Then I could potentially take the works apart and rebuild it as a separate camera/recorder.

I say "cheap" only because I wouldn't want to tear into something really expensive.

Here's a compilation of dash cam videos from a couple of my Jeeps. The good dash cam has audio. It's only a $150 Mini 0806 dash cam but it records good video.

Re: This is why you should invest in a dashcam

Picked up the Jeep yesterday and gave it a quick once over in the shade.
Looked good so I drove it home and parked it in the driveway. In the sun it's clearly a few shades lighter than the OEM paint. The place is closed on the weekends so I'll give them a call on Tuesday. Pretty frustrating when I purposely chose this place to avoid something like this happening.

The other side for reference.
As you can see there is a slight variance because of materials but nothing like the above.

It's hard to see because of your overhead indoor lighting. You need even spread of lighting to compare the shade. Can you get a better photo outdoor.

Definitely can see the difference in the first photo. Fun times, I gotta take my GC in on Tuesday to color match a trim piece the dealership screwed up on the first time. Fun times for sure...

Re: This is why you should invest in a dashcam

I had a spoiler replaced on a vehicle that needed to be repainted four times before they got it right.

How does a reputable shop hand this over to a customer? I guarantee they've going to try to make excuses for it not matching. More wasted time.

The first photo has a reflection of another vehicle that's skewing the lower portion though.

I'm surprised they didn't blend the paint into the rear bumper cover. That looks awful.

Just remember, you know where that guy lives. The other option is sounding better each passing day.
