The point is, Jeep kind of sucks at paint. I notice multiple paint defects on my Jeep, including a thin spot on the hood. There are areas under the hood and in the wheel wells that are just primer - or so thinly sprayed with paint that you can see the primer right through the spray pattern.

I've never had a worse paint job on a vehicle - which is why I didn't have them fix it. I have no confidence they wouldn't make it worse trying to do it after the clear coat is already applied.

The worst part is, it's a beautiful color and fits the vehicle perfectly. They say every vehicle has "a color" and I would submit that red is definitely a contender.

Metallic paints are a pain to color match. I always have mine blended into the next panel otherwise the repair sticks out like a sore thumb. It sucks because now you've covered over more original paint, but the repair becomes unnoticeable. Even with white I have them blended.

I have used Westmont Body Werks twice now on my brilliant black grand Cherokee. Both times they blended into the next panel and it has turned out amazing, that to me seems like the only way to do a perfect job. They do all kinds of high end cars there, only place I will ever go.

Re: This is why you should invest in a dashcam

OK, so I'm thinking a might run a Power Magic Pro to run my front and rear cameras - I have two separate units instead of a combo unit. The PMP seems to check all the boxes I need, including voltage detection and the ability to set a timer to deactivate. For me, 12 hours is enough for my needs and I don't want the thing running on days where I ride the motorcycle.

However, I have a few questions for those that use that device:

1) Am I correct in assuming it will work with any dashcam that uses a cigarette plug for power?
2) Where did you run your power taps for the switched and constant power? I'd prefer an under dash solution rather than accessing fuses under the hood as long as I don't have to splice into any wires.

Depending on how much of a pain it might be, I might just keep the rear camera switched since it's easy enough to run it off the rear power port, which is switched. I normally back my Jeep into parking spaces where the gate is facing bushes or other barriers, which means most threats would be from the front.

I have a Transcend 200 for a while now but I can't really recommend it. It's really bulky, the frame of the lens is chrome, and because of the mount the camera shakes a bit over bumps. I don't want to spend much so the Street Guardian seems like an affordable option, and I'll move the Transcend to the rear.

I had a really close call which I captured on video. What a cocky mom putting her kids at risk.

Boy she just takes her time strutting across the road like she owns the whole thing. She'd probably really get her tail feathers up if you had honked at her, too...

I just spent a whole good minute laughing.

Edit: Sorry for not using the multiquote function. For a young guy I sure seem to be behind when it comes to technology.

What an ASSHOLE.Hopefully once he has paid for the respray he may be less inclined to be such a dick. Some people just hate seeing someone own something nice.Thank God you had a dash cam so he wont be able to lie his miserable ass off.Sadly, too many scumbags on earth.Hope everything works out for you.I would be inclined to have the Police ban him from being within 1000ft of you or your property..................means he can go find a new gym too.It really pisses me off seeing things like this.I just don't GET nasty, low life, envious people.Admire something, compliment a person, dont ruin something because you don't have one.But I guess pond scum never learn.

Re: This is why you should invest in a dashcam

Just read the whole thread. What a shame.
So, guy longer attends same gym.
Insurance paid.
Unhappy with the first fix.
Did the shop make an attempt to make it right? I would think if and adjuster looked at it, they would force the shop to do it correctly and hold payment, but, it's likely way too late now for that. Sometimes it's not worth the hassle, frustration, fighting... there comes a point when you accept that unfortunately humanity is going down the drain... so I get it if you moved on.
Did you end up filing the restraining order?
