Re: This is why you should invest in a dashcam

Thanks for the update. I would be very surprised if you had no legal recourse with how clear that cam footage is. Best of luck!

Wow that is crazy! Very lucky you have the entire incident on video for the police to review. He will be found liable for 100% of the damages, i guarantee it.

....that's a real piece of shit right there!

Re: This is why you should invest in a dashcam

Just watched the video. He's lucky you're a good guy I may have handled it differently. Probably by letting the air out of his tires to start with. It's also good that you didn't catch him in the act because that would have been ugly. Obviously this man has some mental issues. Glad you have a video of it !

What a jerk. Glad you got it on video. Time to lawyer up and make him pay dearly.

No kidding. Literally the moment he goes out of sight you can hear the scratching start. Obviously go the legal route, but....

Are you friendly with the people who work at the gym? I mean real friendly because if you are ask them to play the video across all the gym screens while the guy is there. Just have them loop it two or three times so everyone notices it and can spot the guy in the crowd. Put some text along the bottom that says, "This guy keyed my vehicle" Don't identify yourself, just let the crowd take over.
;-)

^^^ I love this idea! Definitely go after him legally, but this is the icing on the cake!

Wow - that's ridiculous! Sorry about your Jeep & hope everything works out when he pays for the damages. Good luck with everything.

I'm not sure you can ever be made whole again . This kind off behavior is sick on so many levels. Perhaps Good Fellows justice will give him the metered pain he has coming. The kind where his fingers MAY be able to do a push button only start in the very near future.
Truly sad. Sorry for your just being at the wrong place it seems.

I had this happen to my 3 Gen 4Runner at work . Perp never paid ! It is a personal violation.

Re: This is why you should invest in a dashcam

I filed the report with a police officer around 7PM today and about an hour later I received a call that they picked up the guy. My wife and I just went down to the police station to sign the complaint.
They're charging him with a Class A misdemeanor and he needs to appear in court in about a month.

My insurance company said they'll pay for my damages under comprehensive and then pursue him for reimbursement. I can't file insurance until I have the police report which wont be released for 2-3 days. Tomorrow ill stop at the only body shop I trust in the area to get a quote.

More to come.

Re: This is why you should invest in a dashcam

Wow man, it really sucks but definitely glad you have it all recorded. I have a dash cam wired to the overhead console and it only stays on for 6 minutes or so after the vehicle is off. Might be thinking about wiring it to the center console instead.

On another note, you should definitely get the gym people involved. If not as previously suggested (although that'd be fun) at least make management aware of this situation and perhaps get his gym membership revoked. I mean, how are you (or other members for that matter) going to feel safe there while this guy is around? Something to think about..
