Agree with that, the GC was a nicer vehicle then his own and instead of just admiring it he tried to ruin it. Im always suprised at the number of people that think that way. It really makes me sick. If i go see some nice premium vehicle that cost 5 times as much as my own i admir it and im happy for the person. The idea to ruin something because you dont have it yourself is just selfish and appualing to me. Hopefully the judge gives him the max penelty available for the offense and the gym kicks him out.

Re: This is why you should invest in a dashcam

Here's another idea. Send the video to your local news channel and tag them on Facebook of the video. I'm pretty sure they'll be happy to run a story and the guys life miserable.

What kind of dash cam do you have? I thought they shut off with ignition off.

It was stated earlier.

The cam is a Blackvue DR500GW-HD. I've had it for 3-4 yrs.

No kidding. We just got home from going out to dinner in a nearby town. I parked right next to a Lamborghini Gallardo, and was definitely admiring that baby. Sweet. Super low and sleek, especially parked right next to my JGC.

We are planning a trip to Italy next summer, and stops in Modena, Maranello and Sant'Agata Bolognese are being planned to visit Maserati, Ferrari, and Lamborghini. We will do plenty of admiring, there.

Yeah, agree, some jerks just have to make themselves feel better by defacing something nice, and something nicer than what they have. Asshole.

Re: This is why you should invest in a dashcam

Crazy crazy crazy (and criminal) for sure. If it happened on gym property then they can most definitely cancel his membership. Let the prosecutor's office handle the justice part, restitution will be part of it.

I had what I think was a similar experience (no video though) with my new 2011. Parked it far away from the entrance at a Walmart so it wouldn't be near other cars or carts. There wasn't a car or cart near it. Came back and someone had ran a cart into the side and put a nice dent in the rear wheel fender. No way wind could have done that since was not windy at all that day. Sometimes if you park it all on it's own it attracts attention instead. I didn't have any interaction with anyone so there is no way someone did it to get at me, just someone who wanted to damage a stranger's new vehicle. Fortunately a paintless dent removal guy was able to fix it to perfection.

I am curious what this guy's motivation was --- perhaps he thinks it is his parking lot and you parked wrong as the rule in his parking lot is to park directly over the line!!! LOL

Re: This is why you should invest in a dashcam

Maybe it's me but the direction MOFSTEEL took in handling this matter has to be saluted. Resorting to violence or payback seems like a good idea initially but as we all know it's not and will add to more problems down the road. Contacting law enforcement, gym management and seeking a protection order are the right things to do when dealing with an incident such as this one.

To MOFSTEEL, my fellow JGC owner and forum brother, I salute you for rising above his stupidity and thinking with a level head. Your JGC will be repaired and most importantly your family is priority number one.

Good luck
Michael Plummer

Hear Hear! Well said, Michael Plummer. And yes, MOFSTEEL, thank you for handling this in the right way.

Re: This is why you should invest in a dashcam

Dash cams are also good for defending you against road ragers. I live in a neighborhood with a 30 mph limit but drivers routinely speed through well over that. They'll tailgate aggressively. One day I was driving 30 mph and a car came from a curve behind me and tailgated me for a few seconds. It kept backing off and tailgating again. Then it came around and tried to run me off the road. When I stopped she blocked my door, laid on her horn, flipped me off... and had kids in the car.

The dash cam shows me leaving the highway and casually driving 30 mph for a few minutes when this crossover suddenly appears beside me, swerving toward me until I stop, horn, gestures, kids, and then speeds off at about 50 mph.

She lived a few blocks from me and I started noticing her car from that point on. That's just how she drives, I've seen her do the same to other drivers. The dash cam is the only evidence anyone would have if she causes a wreck.

Wow that's messed up. Makes me sad that a grown ass man would do something like that.

That would be something your local law enforcement would like to see... why wait until she does cause a wreck, especially with her kids in the car?

If that happened to me, I would have already turned the footage in to law enforcement and filed my complaint. It's also our duty to stop these people from further harming others or waiting for a bigger tragedy to occur.
