This is why you should invest in a dashcam

After a doctors appointment this morning I walk out to find my car keyed from the passenger rear door all the way down the rear quarter panel almost to the tail light. I didn't think it happened in their parking lot so I decided to head to work and review the dashcam footage from my pc. I thought it may have happened at the gym last night and I didn't notice it until today because it was on my passenger side. I've been parking in the lot adjacent to my gym because I feel the Jeep will be saved from small dings and scratches so there was no one parked next to me. There was however one car parked in the forward facing parking spaces in the same lot. As you will see in the video it's a short gentleman around 60 yr old. I see him fairly frequently at the gym but have never talked to him.

In the video it's very clear he has intent and it's even more so obvious that he is the person who keyed my Jeep. I'll be stopping by the local police station tonight to file a report and sharing this video footage with the gym.

Just some advice for follow Jeep owners: Get yourself a dashcam.

Re: This is why you should invest in a dashcam

Sorry it happened. Sucks people are stupid to do such a thing and stupid enough to not even know.

He even parked in between spots to protect his own car that isn't worth protecting.

Any reason why he targeted you? Elbowed him at the gym? Lifted more weights to break his ego?

But yeah, I have a dashcam although I actually haven't wired it for parking mode. After seeing this, I probably should already sooner than later.

Re: This is why you should invest in a dashcam

Thanks ...I never said a word to this guy or worked out next to him.
I'm good about respecting peoples space in the gym since I'd like everyone to respect mine. Not sure what his problem is?

Anyway, I just played the video with sound and you can hear him keying the car. It sucks that he keyed it but that video is full of awesome. For some reason I don't think he'll feel the same way as I do.

Re: This is why you should invest in a dashcam

A little off topic, how did you wire your dashcam to remain on during parking? Did you have an external battery or hard wired to fuse?

If fuse, do you know what kind of fuse the WK2 uses? Micro fuse, Mini fuse? So con-fused!

That guy is a dick just by the way he parked, taking 2 spots.

Did you notify the cops and file a report ?
