True, but when will the 2012 actually be out??? What minor changes if any will there be??? The good thing is initial build bugs should be ironed out by now.

Re: This just isn't right!

I will say that I could have picked a loaded Laredo (if had pano roof) and been happy....but decided to go all out. I will like the new 730N RHR but would be a tad ticked off if they came out with the new big screen media center (8xx something) for 2012.

Re: This just isn't right!

First admission, no way would I have the patience to wait it out. That's why I bought my preferred configuration from another state.

That said, as other Jeep veterans have pointed out, you have the option of ordering custom configuration, in a special issue vehicle, in perhaps a special color. If that is what floats your boat, then at least you have that option.

If you're already looking at alternatives to the WK2, then I'd say your custom configuration isn't all that important after all and would suggest you look at in stock if you don't have the patience to gut it out.

Either way, good luck with the hunt and wait.

I don't think they will update with the new media center in only the second model year as it would take a total redesign of the center stack to fit. I would think 2013 or 2014 before any major changes like the 8 spd trans and new media center.

Re: This just isn't right!

Moosehead, you are probably right. Since I am only really three weeks into it, I will most likely wait a bit longer. I am just venting. However, seeing others who have waited 12 weeks before it even goes into D1 is just crazy. I don't think I can be that patient.

Re: This just isn't right!

Well this is a tough situation because everyone going to order a new Overland knows before hand how long the delays are so its not a matter of ordering the Jeep then all of a sudden being shocked that you wont get it for 4 months. The problem for Jeep is they are infact losing a lot of business because of these delays. Me being a perfect example. Had there been no delay I would have bought an Overland and been driving it right now. Instead my Jeep still sits in D status since 2 months ago and what did I do? I cancelled my order because it made me re-think my decision to buy a Jeep and an SUV all together. The day after I cancelled gas prices jumped up to $3.65 a gallon here and the more I think of it I dont want to spend $90 to fill up my tank. Very glad I did what I did and Jeep is losing a lot of business because of these delays. Its sad because they really have a great product now.

Another person brought up the good point about how your car is depreciating before the damn things even built. I would be soooo mad if I spent 45K on something I dont even have yet only to find out some 2012's will be available in the not too distant future.

James

Re: This just isn't right!

Moosehead, but that is the very point. Many of us just ordered a standard Summit and Jeep still can't deliver. Mine is just the rugged brown V6 with the new 730. I waited patiently for the 730 to become available and placed the order. There is no rhyme or reason on what Jeep is doing other than showing how screwed up they really are.

Agreed - I am seeing Summits in every other color, but not Rugged Brown.
I am waiting to see in person before ordering, but it is very frustrating to not be able to see the 'exclusive color' that I see the press materials. Luckily, the wait may have the added benefit of making sure that the 730N RHR is available.

...I may give up and buy a Brilliant Black one if it has the pano roof & RHR...

Re: This just isn't right!

I don't mind waiting at all as I am not in a rush. I started this thread because of the people who have been patiently waiting and when they call the service line they say "oh your D gateline with firm scheduling." Well if the schedule is firm what's the date?!! If my delivery is May thats fine, just tell me!!!! Its all the unknowns that suck. Then you have people on here that I see waiting since December and others ordering 5 days ago and getting the same jeep in a week. Vendor issues? Highly unlikely... Not right!! Just inform the customer what the issue is when we call for info on our vehicle and stop the non sense that we are all stupid!! Or at the very least educate the service rep that answers the phone with some intelligent responses!!!!!
BTW sorry Im venting too......

Re: This just isn't right!

Well said scittb! I agree, I don't need a new vehicle but was very excited to order a new Jeep. If they are out of rugged brown paint or something, then say so. But to have the customer service to cheerfully inform you weekly for the past six weeks that "your order is gateline ready" & know nothing else is just wrong. Thanks for letting us vent as well !

Re: This just isn't right!

There always seem to be something. You wait for D status, then you wait for D1 status, then you wait to be built (sometimes a long wait, sometimes not). Then for your next act you get to wait to be shuttled around from Bay to Bay, sit on the dock for transport, then get on a railcar, then get shuttled some more.

Then you are moved around and checked for inventory purposes (sometimes a lot of times) and finally....you are on your way. BUT.......on your way to where and for how long? Take my Summit for example. Mine left at the same time as 3rdgearisheaven's did and we moved along together for a little while then,BANG, mine slowed down like a turtle on downers. It has taken me the same time to go less than half as far.

The only fair in town is the State or County Fair(s), and then only for a short time. You will enjoy the ride when it comes, possibly all the more. Good luck!

For my brothers waiting in agonizing anticipation. It will be worth it. Just don't let yourself stress out to the point of looking like Keith.
